...because I am losing my mind over the lack of news.

I'd say we likely roll with something like this opening night:

Hartnell-Giroux-Voracek
Schenn-Lecavalier-Simmonds
McGinn-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Hall-Talbot

However, I really dont know how much I actually like them. For one, I really want to try Lecavalier on the wing with Giroux, just because I'd prefer having Schenn at his natural position. But then that breaks up the beautiful Giroux-Voracek duo. Does Jake sustain last year's play without G? And then there is McGinn. Honestly, I'd rather go with Akeson or even Raffl, provided either one of them can earn it in camp. Then there is my dislike for Rinaldo, but I see no way he isn't in the lineup come opening night.

So then we have:

Hartnell-Giroux-Lecavalier
Simmonds-Schenn-Voracek
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Hall-Talbot

But then what about trying Voracek on Giroux's left? And what about Laughton? Will he be able to stick in the NHL, or is he going back to play in junior? I'd prefer he go back to Oshawa, but I wouldn't put it past the Flyers to have him stay.

Voracek-Giroux-Lecavalier
Simmonds-Schenn-Hartnell
Akeson-Couturier-Read
Rinaldo-Laughton-Talbot

And then on to defense, which I suspect will look like this:

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Streit
Gustafsson-Grossmann

Which is okay, but I would make a little change. I really dont want Streit playing hard minutes, and hope that he can change be a point getting PP specialist. Swap him and Gus, who i thought looked great down the stretch. Of course Meszaros is still around, so we'll have to see what happens with him.

Timonen-Schenn
Coburn-Gustafsson
Streit-Grossmann

And finally the goalies. I really don't know who starts opening night. A case can be made for either. For now, I give Mason the edge.

Mason
Emery

dont we still need to shed salary?

Some folks were saying we could bury few of our waiver immune expensive guys in the minors as the season starts and then put Pronger on IR as soon as it starts, then call them back up. You don't save the full value on their contracts - any salary over 900k still counts to the cap - but we aren't that far over.

It'd still be better to move somebody because we have no way to add people, and it'll really restrict our ability to call folks up for if we don't lose some salary.

I still don't know how the hell we haven't traded Mez for futures. He is definitely worth the gamble (Not that there is any)

Yeah, they still have to shed $2,053,522. I think the easiest way to do this would be to try & trade Andrej Meszaros. He's a $4 million hit, but he only has 1 year left on his deal. I also think he's easily replaceable within the system with the likes of Gustafsson, Bourdon, & Lauridsen. Other option is Nicklas Grossmann but he has a no trade clause and his contract doesn't expire until 2016, so I don't know how many teams would want to pick that up unless the Flyers made it an enticing package.

I think that some teams know that they have to trade Meszaros and are trying to get something extra in the deal.

I figured that'd be he case, but even so I'd think one team would take him for nothing

Problem is that they'll have to give up something for him and for $4 salary it's not too tempting, especially with his recent injuries. In the past I think teams would be willing to do it to meet the cap floor but the cap floor is lower than every team's salary as of now, so that makes him less appealing. IDK, I would look at some prospect that's good but unlikely to make the team (Akeson perhaps?) and package him with Meszaros in exchange for a late draft pick if I could.

I'd be shocked if McGinn made the opening night roster. I liked him in his cup of tea, but the flyers can do better than McGinn for the 3rd line IMO. Gage or Laughton will be there I think.

Do you mean Gagne Awaz? Do we have a Gage?

IDK, although Gagne & Laughton got more talent than McGinn, I have a hard time seeing them sign him for the season. I could be wrong but as of now it doesn't seem possible unless they could trade Meszaros & sign Gange for cheap. As far as Laughton goes, I think he's going to be better than McGinn in the long term but I think McGinn is more NHL ready as of now. I really like how McGinn can throw his body around, and I think that would serve the Flyers well. We'll see tho, you probably know more about the Flyers than I do. I just think McGinn should be a roster reg to start the season. Then again, I also think Oliver Lauridsen should be a roster regular to start the season so I might not be the most realistic fan to talk to.

I don't think he's been medically cleared to play yet. Also, keep in mind that while his cap hit is $4 mil., his actual salary for the season is $5.5 million, which is sure to decrease his trade value.

bold 1: i think that's what will happen
bold 2: even though i like mcginn and lauridsen, i think they are extremely overrated by flyers fans that will be disappointed when they turn out to be a marginal 4th liner and bottom pair guys.. i like them for what they are, but there are multiple better options in the flyers organization at both slots.. i think mcginn is probably the 13th or 14th forward in my organizational list, not including gagne, and i think lauridsen is probably 9th or 10th on my dman list

I wouldn't be surprised to see McGinn on the Flyers opening roster if he has a really good camp. More likely it's either Laughton or Gagne (as you said, after trading Meszaros), but McGinn has a legit shot.

Tye McGinn might be the 14th best forward on the Flyers but he delivers a pretty hard forecheck. I think they should keep him on the roster for that reason alone. Flyers can't be soft this year.

I have Oliver Lauridsen as the 5th dman on the Flyers (contracts aside). We probably won't agree on anything here.

Main reasons I like McGinn over Laughton are size & experience. At this juncture of their careers, it's what makes McGinn the better player IMO.
