This should be stickied so we can keep track of thoughts throughout the year.

Anyways, I've been looking at a few EARLY mock drafts. Quite a few have us taking Trent Richardson out of Alabama. Now we could use a RB, but IDK about that high. However he is 5'11 220lbs with good spead, and good hands. He could be a force but I haven't seen enough of him to know if he is good enough to be picked in the top 10. Also seen Matt Kalil, Jonathon Martin both OT's, Dre Kirkpatrick CB, and oddly enough Alshon Jeffries a few times. Seen Quinton Coples once. Just curious who everyone out there is leaning towards right now.

Also on another note, Charlie Campbell has a 2013 mock posted and has us picking 24th, after Pitt and Bal. Really?

I'd like to see them go O-line but I'd have to agree..I think they take Richardson. I think they've bought in to Whit being the LT of the future and as high as the Bengals are drafting it'd be stupid to take a RT or interior lineman. I always want them to go Dline in the first but dont see that happening either. We need a safety that can play the pass but top 10 is probably again too high. With Rome headed to prison I wouldnt be suprised to see them look at Justin Blackmon...MB loves his skill guys.

Mathieu, the safety from LSU, is going to be a very high pick in 2013.

if there is a stand out corner that would be a good pick...I actually think that Clements could be a good FS if he'd be willing to make the move.

Kirkpatrick from Bama is the top guy. He is 6'3 195lbs but has the speed to keep up with the fast guys. It really all depends on where we finish. Top 5 is too high for Richardson or Kirkpatrick IMO. However if we finish 7-10 then both guys fit. There isn't a S good enough to be picked in the top 10. And while Blackmon and Jeffries are both very intriguing, I'd rather wait and see if a guy like Michael Floyd falls into the 2nd.

Richardson is a stud but I'm not a believer in drafting RB's high first. Would hate another WR pick even though all those guys are gonna be good. They need to get more stout and add some playmakers on D. I think they've bought into Dalton too so I'd rule a QB out...

We aren't going QB. The only other reason I can give that I would be ok with Richardson that high is the next best RB is Lamichael James from Oregon who is about a 3rd round pick. There are just not any good RB's coming out this year that I can see and we need to replace Benson badly. I'd be fine with Kirkpatrick if they can convince Clements to move to FS.

Honestly, if Kalil is as good as advertised they should take him and move Whit inside...aint gonna happen though. At this point I think all signs point to Richardson. Love being a Bengals fan where draft talk takes over 3 weeks into the reg. season

Who's to say Clements can play safety? He's getting old - That's why he stinks. That problem won't be masked by a move to safety. Sure it's worked for a few guys in their careers - Most notably Rod Woodson. But Rod Woodson was a once-in-a-lifetime type of talent. Clements was a good corner in his day. His day is just about done.

I dont know if he could..but he's always been a physical CB and can make plays on the ball. Seems suited to it (especiallu since he's clearly lost a step). Then again, he could very well suck there too.

I'm not saying it will work, but really he can't be any worse than what we have back there. Plus he won't have to be right up on those WR's and can sit back and ball hawk a little more. he is still physical enough in teh run game to be fine there. Seems like a natural fit to me.

And I can't find this Mathieu kid on any rankings anywhere for 2012, 2013 or anything.

From what I have found Mathieu is a generously lister 5'9 175 lb CB.

We've been pretty good at finding Running backs in the rough, but I'm losing my faith in our ability to do so. i think at this point, the Bengals could draft 7 running backs, and miss on every single one.

Matthieu is a playmaker. They were comparing him to Ed Reed. He blitzed against WVU, jumped to tip a pass and intercepted it. He was player of the week for the SEC.

He is 5'9 but he's made a big play in every game this year. He's also a sophomore so he wouldn't be listed in 2013 drafts.

Anything that addresses either line. Followed by a LB that can either cover or specializes in getting to the QB.

Inside out.

Unfortunately, Mike will never get it.

Our D-Line is fine. We need a TON of positions way more than D-Line. You think it is a coincidence the great D's have a Reed, or a Polomalu, or even a Weddle? No it's not.

And Mathieu is a CB at LSU. No way he can play S. He would get murdered being that small.

He'd be a corner in the NFL. Mark my words, somebody is going to be very happy for drafting him b
