Well.....Let's hope we develop pitchers, players too actually, to date, better than we've done in the past.

I heard a show from Norm Hitzges the other day and he went through our top 10 picks for the last 10+ years. It covered 113 players.

And here were his top 3 players we've drafted/developed since 2004:
  1. Gallo.....
  2. Justin Smoak.....
  3. And the pitcher Hendrickson.
Even if Norm is wrong, are you impressed?

Holland was drafted in 2006, I'm pretty sure he'd crack the top 3

Or is his top 3 only consisting of the top 10 picks still?

If he is going to include players we have traded away I think I could come up with some to put above Smoak.

No I am not impressed. Overall our development has been fine with position players, but we are really lacking in the pitching department. I really don't think drafting a whole lot of pitchers is the answer either. We have done that in the past and we just can't develop a long term #2 starting pitcher much less a #1 starter. That part of the organization has been a huge failure.

Well above Smoak in my estimation.

Somehow when I think of our top pick this year I can't help but think of Donald Harris. I really don't like our first pick, but the next few seemed pretty good.

He was just examining our draft/development from the top 10 only from an illustration standpoint. But a solid one, at least to me, anyway.

IMO that's a pretty poor list of guys who you've drafted/developed during a decade plus.

Houstons scrub starter with a 6+ ERA is dominating us. Go figure. Maybe we can lower his era to 4 before the end of the night.

Hoying is worthless.

I take that back..........honestly.

He's a good/too very good CF. Kind of like DDJ, but a bigger/better armed/more powerful version. Certainly nothing else.

Frankly, I'd take DeShields as my fill-in/part-time-starter/PH or PR.
