40 rounds is a looooong draft. Especially the way things slow down after the halfway mark or so.

With 8 guys, I do think ditching partners is the way to go

I had this thought about the basketball draft and thought we could probably use it somewhere else. Maybe not here unless we ditch the salary cap. The draft order may be a little tricky to install, but the basic concept of the draft is that we would eliminate a round's worth of players every other round or so. So, we draft the first round for our rosters, then in the 2nd round, we each name a guy who doesn't go on any body's roster, but he just becomes ineligible for anyone to draft. Then, we draft our 2nd player.

It sounds a little tricky, but it would help dilute the teams a bit if you take away 8 or 10 players every other round or so.
