Okay, just kidding on that. I think we all know Ohtani won't be a Giant next year (but one can dream). Here's tonight's lineup:
1. Slater - lf
2. Estrada - ss
3. Pollock - rf
4. Flores - 1b
5. Davis - 3b
6. Bailey - c
7. Conforto - dh
8. Matos - cf
9. Mathias - 2b
SP - Webb

Wow, this is a weird lineup. Wonder if FZ called Kapler into a meeting. FZ: "Hey Kap, play my acquisitions." Kapler: "But they aren't any good." FZ: "Before I drop them next week for whoever is on the waiver wire, I need you to get them some playing time." Kapler (jokingly): "Okay, I start them both tonight." FZ: "Great idea! Now, would someone check the waiver wire for a middle infielder?"

I mean, really, Pollock batting 3rd? I would assume that he is a better defensive player than Conforto but I'm not sure I can just assume that based on the defensive alignment. Here's to hoping that Pollock and Mathias go a combined 4 for 7 with 5 RBIs.

And I'm stuck at home because I got a stupid positive on a COVID test when my favorite team is just 30 minutes away.

I'ma just cut and paste one of my numerous great pitching shitty hitting posts from before, coupled with a 3-2 alert

This has to be one of the ugliest games I have watched in quite some time. They really should have Tanner Boyle come in to teach defensive fundamentals.

Its really nice to see the positive contributions Pollock is bringing to the club both offensively and defensively.

Giants just went off on the Angels' closer. Second time in a week he has melted down that badly. He was having a great year until last Thursday too.

What does it say about Blake Sabol's fielding abilities that when he stays in on defense he goes to left field and Joc Pederson moves to right field? Or, more accurately, what does that say about Kapler's defensive alignments?

Or maybe Kapler knew that it didn't matter who was on defense, Doval was just going to take care of the inning all by himself.

Giants now projected to go 89-73 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Angels and Padres, two teams that decided to double down on playoff pushes at the trading deadline, are not looking good right now (unfortunately for the Giants, that means the Dodgers keep their division lead).

Didn't get to watch the game, what a miracle ending! Need these to keep the train running sometimes...

FYWW in full effect. And by the way the Rogers twins are now at 2.52 and 2.54 and that's fucking nuts

I'm angry and sad the Angels are gonna flame out. Fucking criminal we won't see Ohtani in the playoffs, again. And the bitch of it is, he'll get there right away the next year...on the fucking Dodgers

Estrada coming back is meaningful, feels like the offense might be picking up...

LOL

I thought the EXACT same thing when the Giants took the field in the bottom of the 9th.

I don't know if its Kapler just being lazy or if Pederson is one of his pets. Despite the fact that there is an outfielder on the IL, Pederson should be kept off the field. If he is on the field . . . no, even going to finish that, just keep him off the field.

I was listening to the game when Grichuk hit that "triple". The Angels' announcers were all over Pollock's "fielding prowess" on that one. They didn't talk about how well Grichuk hit that ball or his speed on the basepaths. Nope, they spent a good 2 minutes talking about how Pollock went in, then went out and completely lost his footing on the play. Should have been a 3 base error.

Okay, now that I think about it, maybe Pederson will have to play the outfield, just to keep Pollock out of the outfield.

On a team that is built on defensive flexibility, it makes no sense to have a guy who not only has an iron glove, but laughs at the idea that he should work on his fielding. He is such a bad “ball player” and absolutely unlikable from a fan’s perspective.
