If it wasn't for Maz and Elvis this offense would be really bad.

Lot being said about pulling Yu too early blah blah blah...Don't walk two hitters and you likely win the game. Those two free runs were the difference.

Is Joey Gallo experiment No. 125 version 74 modification 12 coming to an end yet? I like the guy and he's very consistent with a .177 career batting average and he's currently batting .178 but would somebody send him a pint of wood putty to fix the hole in his bat.

A pint? Better make that a gallon. May be you haven't noticed but Odor Gomez Rua and Napoli are in the same boat.

Besides Maz and Andrus the next highest batting avg. is Choo at .238, most of the team is batting under .200. Napoli who has been in the 4 hole all season is batting a stellar .148 and has an OBP of .233, wonder what Jeff's thoughts are? Oh thats right, I have no idea what he is thinking half the time

When it comes to the offense Lucroy and Napoli are by far the biggest disappointments. The 3 headed platoon sucks as well. Getting no contribution out of that spot.

I think he just needed a change of scenery in order to " put it all together". It seemed like for 3 or 4 years in a row the same exact thing would play out: he would always get injured, miss a lot of games, and generally be inconsistent whenever he did play. The front office would always justify his potential and cheap value as a reason to bring him back, but he had a ton of chances and it just wasn't going to work out here.
I am not sure about this case, but I think the "change of scenery" argument is way overplayed. For example if Elvis had been traded a couple of years ago the change of scenery argument would have been used when in reality it was simply a case of the manager misusing him. Again, I am not saying this happened to Moreland, but in a lot of cases it is simply that the previous team didn't know what they were doing with a particular player.

Look at what happened to Dave Stewart after he got away from a terrible manager here. Look at what happened to Chris Davis when he was given an opportunity to play everyday no matter how he was hitting.

When Profar leaves here and does well in an everyday role the change of scenery argument will be used only by those wanting to give the Rangers an excuse for mishandling him.

I just think a lot of times it is the lack of an ability of an organization to properly develop and utilize talent that lends itself to a change of scenery excuse. In some cases it is a legitimate reason, but I think in a lot of instances it is just an excuse to ignore the problems within an organization.

One thing to keep in mind with Moreland is that he has had some very good stretches while playing here like the one he is having now with Boston. They just were usually followed up with a very poor stretch or an injury.

I wouldn't put Rua with those guys. He simply hasn't had a chance. If those other guys would have been given one day off a week and Rua kept in the lineup 5 times a week Rua would probably be doing much better like he did in ST.

Why not? He can't hit RHP

Nothing wrong with a platoon if a guy sucks versus a particular handed pitcher (Profar versus LHPs)

The problem is if you then split those ABs with 2 other guys

We've faced 1 LHP since the 11th, and Profar has played every other game, I think that situation is resolving itself

The issue is now whether those LHP ABs go to Rua or Deshields going forward and who gets sent down or withers on the bench

I vote DDJ become a pinch runner, defensive replacement for people like Choo when he actually plays the OF

Give Rua the RHH ABs against LHPs

He can't hit RHP if he is never given the opportunity to hit against them on a consistent basis. He has only played on consecutive days once this year. The one time he did he got 2 hits.

Those other guys you mentioned play just about every game.

Ryan has only had 7 AB against a RH starting pitcher this year so who really knows what he can do. He was 0 for 7 in those situations, but the situations are so infrequent that it is hard to expect him to be much better. At least he didn't strike out in any of those AB. Last year his OPS against RHP was .714. That would put him right behind Maz and Elvis this year even without his AB against LHP.

Of course he needs more AB's. But when Bannister is sold on rotating them things will remain the way they are. I have stated before that DDJ needs to go to RR and Profar and Rua can play somewhere almost daily. The bottom line is Ryan has not had the chance but be it as it is he h is still the same as Nap etc. All not named Elvis and Maz are bad right now.

On Yu Darvish’s weird exit and Doug Brocail

Just what this season needed... Brocail throwing Darvish under the bus.

I'm glad that this has come to light. I got attacked earlier in the season for criticizing Brocail and the team's overall pitching strategy. It seems like our pitchers nibble way too damn much and the opposing hitter always has a 2-1 count. No wonder we walk so many guys.
