Just last season Dallas held onto a guy who publicly said he did not want to be in Dallas - Ronald Leary. Jerry kept him, despite his public displeasure. While Romo looms larger than Leary, it is a very similar situation. To say that Jerry wouldn't keep Romo despite him wanting to be somewhere else is ignoring the very recent past.

And Jerry has more leverage than any of the other owners. Jerry holds the contract, he will make the final decision, no matter who likes it or not. To say Jerry is holding the losing hand is not at all accurate. What's Romo going to do if Jerry says "tough luck, you're staying in Dallas"? The answer is nothing. Or maybe Romo retires, but that is not the same thing as Jerry "losing".

I understand what your saying about Leary and Ron showed up at camp and worked his butt of and then he got to play when Collins went down and turned that into a big payday. I get your point about Jerry but he is not like Mike Brown of the Bengals who would cut off his nose to spite his face. Quarterback is a different horse race however. I refer to Jerry losing like this " he does not get his way" he wont get a pick for Romo IMHO and Romo wont be a backup in Dallas , if Romo retires Jerry loses simply because he did not get a pick and could not Talk Romo into playing as a Backup.

Now with all that said I hope they get something but I just think it wont get done. I honestly believe it will all be over by 4-17-17 when Ota's start. I want something for Tony for the Cowboys to get better but I don't see it happening. I really like Tony and neither he nor the Cowboys owe anything to each other its just down to the business side and while that can be messy it will all be over soon.
And Hey if I am wrong I will be plenty happy if we get a pick and if I am right no big deal even a broken clock is correct 2 times a day :suds:

And for all that disagree no worries . That's why we have the forum and why we have Chocolate, Strawberry and Mango ice cream because while I like vanilla the other flavors taste good 2.

I might be coming off a little abrasive today, but that is not my intent.

Those who are saying there is no trade market for Romo, have offered up zero proof of that actually being the case. I'm a firm believer there is a trade market, and that Dallas will receive a little more than a 5th or 6th round pick for their troubles.

We will see.
I think it is both. I think eventually if we hold Romo we get a decent offer back, but I also have no reason to disagree with those who say we have yet to receive a decent offer or he'd likely be gone

Fans, and even the vast majority of the media have no idea what is really happening. We are all just spitballing. I only give my opinions and share my beliefs as I read the tea leaves. I've been wrong plenty, but I feel pretty good about this one.

I feel the same way. I'm sorry this turned into a pissing match. I think it was summed up best earlier when it was said the Cowboys don't owe Romo anything. They've paid him a lot of money, and never even bothered to bring in competition. With that said, saying Romo isn't the player he was 5 years ago isn't being anti-Romo, it's just the way it is. Father Time is undefeated

Man he looks good out there. I think he retired at the right time. No doubt in my mind he can still spin the pigskin, but I really think his approval rating is st an all time high amongst Cowboy fans. Downtown lit up the other night, now the Mavs. Probably a little much for some fans, but it is an awesome send off for a super guy.

you remember the fantasy league a couple of years back with Romo on IR. I didn't have Romo on my roster, didn't pick him up but voiced an opinion then to and got nailed for it.

Oh well....it is what it is. Other than Colors, I still don't see anyone above the other posters with regards to being a nice guy

Yes he was on my team. I dropped him because I needed the spot. I didn't know there was an IR spot. Nobody's fault on that one. Just a rules misunderstanding if I remember right.
