This Fuller - Teller connection makes absolutely no sense. Unless there is something concrete Ray, let's just drop that. Would you say that if Fuller was favoring/considering UVA that he (WT)was more likely to go there?? Unless you have proof that they are "boys", roomed together at camps, etc. (Check their twitter or facebook..I am so sure they chit chat on there) then there is little to this. Does he want to go where there is talent??, as EGW said sure. But that could be alot of different places. But to say he is going to base what school he chooses and where he spends the next 4 yours of his life, based on what a CB from another state, that he probably doesn't even know does?? I kinda doubt it.

I, like some of the others hope I am completely wrong on this. Would happily eat crow. Teller is a beast..would love to snatch him right out from under CML's nose..

certainly seems so .. but i have to think that the longer he holds out, the better it is for VT .. if he was that big of a uva lock, i would've expected him to commit by now .. but meh .. i won't even try to assume what he's thinking -- and the same could be said for VT<>DJ Reid .. is he waiting to see what derrick green is gonna do?? definitely wouldn't hold my breath waiting on his decision. he seems like one who may go all the way to nsd

Yeah, but at the same time, Green is not going to want to come here if Reid commits as our running back. I feel like Reid may be waiting for a while if Green is who he is basing his decision off.

No knock on anyone, but there's no way in hell Reid (or Holmes, or Coleman, or Edmunds) keeps Green from seeing the field. Shared carries perhaps, but he'll have ample opportunities.

I agree. Green is simply too talented and I think in short time would possibly even take over the starting spot from Holmes (depending on how fast he could learn the playbook). He and Coleman would make a great 1-2 punch. That's not taking away from Holmes..I just think he will be more of a workhorse, and not so much of a gamebreaker. Either way you look at it, it is great that VT has the problem with too many great RB's. We haven't even really mentioned Drew Harris in this conversation, hopefully he recovers well from his injury, sticks with his commitment and is in the mix. Somehow I wonder IF Green were to commit, if Harris would seriously consider looking elsewhere?? As far as Edmunds goes?? Hopefully he ends up at LB..(unless he just completely outshines Holmes and the rest).

Reid is being recruiting as an ATH FWI. Could play on offense or defense at multiple positions.

From what I've read, he WANTS to play RB or give it a shot. From what I've read here, most think that he ends up in the slot or secondary. Maybe that's the rub. I'm sure in the end, he'll be here but a lot expected him to have committed by now.

I see Edmunds ending up at LB IMO.
I did at one point too. But by all accounts, he'll get a shot at RB and he may win the job at some point. With our RB corps now, Harris prepping, a really good '14 RB already in the coffer (with at least one more to come eventually) .. I think that's where he ends up too.

The timing is off. It sounds like he'll get a crack at RB first, and with Harris prepping I don't see enough there that he won't stick. Even if the coaches want to roll the dice with the better long-term bet and move him to LB anyway, how do you sell that to the kid who wants to play RB and who has seen that he can cut it with the guys you currently have there? It's possible, but that's a hard sell. We'll see. There's always the chance that he plays RB in 2012 and then moves over to LB next year, but then he's lost a year of learning the position... Just have to trust the coaches on this one and hope the kid is willing to do whatever they ask of him.

Edmunds will start off camp as RB as of now

We have so many RBs and more coming in that I think they will see him having a better chance of impacting the team at LB. People seem to be writing off Holmes because of the RBs we have coming in and potentially coming(Green, Reid) but I think he is going to be pretty good if the line can do anything at all. I think he will be a combination of Evans and Williams. Coleman is going to get carries, then we have Scales and Mangus(likely RS). Harris will be coming in 2013 after prepping(hopefully) and then we have shots with Green and Reid. Tony Gregory is also in there but I see him getting shuffled down. We then have a 2014 RB lined up and he looks like he will be a good one.

That is 7 RBs in the program over the next 3 years not including Edmunds, Green, or Reid. Thats my reasoning for thinking he will be at LB but as you guys have stated, whatever the coaches think will help the team more will be where he lands.

I was probably selling what we have at RB a little short. I really do think Holmes will be good for us this year. I don't expect him to be a superstar, but he'll hold down the starting job, no question, and there's potential to shine a little brighter than most expect. It's behind him that I'm more worried, and part of me wants to say Edmunds would be our best 2nd option. But maybe that's going a bit far. I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with any of the other guys starting this year, but they shouldn't have to with Holmes in that role, and they should make a good group of backups without Edmunds.

If we get 2-3 years from Holmes as a starter, we will have any 2013 and 2014 guys we get stepping in at that point. Having too many good backs can hurt if you are trying to get them all playing time and they never get into a rhythm or gel with the OL. Having 3 RBs with 3 different styles makes it hard on the OL to block because if one guy cuts back, one is downhill and the other bounces outside, then they have no idea where the play will likely go. The argument is they should just open a hole and let him run though it but its never that simple.

There is a greater need at LB especially if Harris sticks. Plus they'll always be able to bring in RB talent when they need it. It seems like it's been tougher for the staff to get good LBs lately. I would rather Edmunds play LB. The talk about him playing both ways is probably just talk. If he wants to play LB at all then that's where he's got to spend most if not all of his practice time. RB is more instinctual and something you don't need to practice as much
