The legal tampering period has begun, and we are currently a little over 24 hours away from the 2017 calendar season officially getting underway.

Just as we did last off-season, I figured I would go ahead and start a thread that we can all post any news, speculation... etc... on the moves that are about to transpire. Beginning at 4 EST time tomorrow.

Very interested to see how the front office chooses to play this off-season. As we've touched on, it's a big one. With a lot of different possible roads to go down, especially at the QB position.

Here's to what should be, if nothing else... an interesting couple of months.

We're reportedly offering Glennon a deal for 14-15 mil. 2 years/15 mil ain't bad.

14-15 million PER year though, right? Still, at 2 years that's a good 'kick the tires' contract I think...

I am not sure. However, I believe so. I should have worded that better.

I like him enough. A lot of potential, just looked really raw to me and was on a bad team. Played well considering those factors. Give him two years, see what he can do. We have a solid young defense, O-line and RB. I feel like we'll grab Allen at #3, and really work to put together the final pieces to Fangio's defense this off-season.

If Glennon can play well, the run game goes strong again and the D stays healthy. It's not crazy to think we could be respectable. We need to grab a veteran free agent WR. Someone cost-effective, like Garcon. Probably a rookie on day 2 of the draft as well. That's really the only worrisome thing to me with a new QB coming in.

White, Meredith, Garcon, *Rookie*, Thompson and Bellamy (special teams only, hopefully). Then Zach Miller and Daniel Brown at TE. If White can finally put a full season together, that's not a BAD group of targets. Certainly none too impressive, but there will be worse. Then next year, maybe we're in position to go and look for a big time guy. Whether it's a big name UFA or a 1st round pick.

Mentioned this before but no one really commented.

What about giving Josh Gordon a "Show me" deal? No denying the talent if he could stay off the chronic.

Edit: Guess he's applying for full re-instatement and is a restricted free-agent.

Yeah, I saw your post on him and Floyd. Responded by saying that Floyd is sentenced through June, so it'll be a while on him.

Thing with Gordon is that he'd once again have to go through the whole reinstatement thing... and then maybe another suspension. People are really about done with his bull shit. I mean, I'd take him for the vet minimum, obviously. I'm sure someone will take a shot with him, but maybe he just ends up like Justin Blackmon and doesn't even care anymore. Who knows? He's a mess.

Well, obviously he needs to be reinstated first. He applied on March 1st I believe.

Then, yeah... I'm just saying try one of those low risk/high reward contracts and see what happens. if he goes the Blackmon route? So be it. But the guy has never been anything but a beast when he plays, so I think it'd be worth a shot.

I can live with that.
I can live with it if it's a 2 or 3 year deal. Anything longer is a big gamble that could jeopardize the franchise. I don't know how often QBs get that big of a contract over such a short period of time though.

The risk is that if Glennon DOES work out? We're looking at huge money in two years.

That is fine with me. If he doesn't work out, you have a shitty Cutler like contract. Unless they can structure it so cutting him in 2-3 years doesn't hurt much, I'd rather pay a ton for a good QB than pay a lot for a crap QB.

I agree. Just saying thats the only downside to a 2 year deal here...

On another note, I hear we are interested in Cordarelle Patterson and will probably bring back Jeffery now.

We're 8th in the league in cap space. We have a good amount of room.

Dude, if we find a legitimate franchise QB. Who gives a shit? lol, We'll pay him like one.

Where did you see this?

I'm assuming Patterson would be mostly just a return guy. Which is good... since Hester left, we've had a rotating door of very shitty return men.
