Are the Pats the only team that picks up players so that they can "help a young man in need of help" (according to NEPatsfan?

Thank god for the Patriots. What would this world be like without them???

When anyone else does it, they're ignoring red flags. When the Patriots do it, they're giving second chances.

In this specific case, everyone else passed on him in the waivers process. Michael Floyd was found passed out behind the wheel in traffic with a BAC of .217; the sample was taken an hour and half after the arrest as he refused to give a sample and the police had to obtain a court order so that number would actually be higher at the time of arrest. Floyd faces a mandatory sentence of 45 days in jail since BAC levels over .20 are categorized as a super extreme DUI under Arizona law. The state's BAC legal limit is .08. The 27-year-old was previously arrested while at Notre Dame in 2011 for driving under the influence.

Big enough problem for Arizona to cut him loose and every other team to pass on him during waivers. Sounds like just the guy for Belichick? I'm actually surprised.

So you don't believe in the right to a fair trial, innocent until proven guilty, and most important of all in this case, a chance at redemption?

Of course he does (in life in general). There is no such right in the NFL (or in any place of employment).

He clearly isn't innocent; this isn't a case of false identity or something. Passed out in traffic with a BAC in the super DUI category? Automatic jail time, repeat offender, etc.

Probably is guilty, but then again I also know of a case personally where the cops approached it the same way only to find out the person wasn't intoxicated. Complicated case that invovled a series of errors by the investigation/cops on a person that was having a diabetic episode.

Nor is there any such restriction of employment in the NFL at this time.

I do.

Don't believe he is innocent but it isn't too late to turn your back on him like they obviously have done since high school, enabling him because he could play.

Only now that it seems to be a problem is he suddenly a pariah.

Until then it's all good......

We have a lot of 'holier than thou" holy rollers in here that live in glass houses Hank. Some that don't care what their kids ( team) does but what the Jones's kids are doing down the street. Easier to lay blame than accept it for weak fucks

You don't do the "high and mighty" very well.
I don't imagine that he is "innocent" Perhaps you could just shoot him?
What difference is it to you that NE is taking a chance on him and maybe he'll get lucky and correct his ways?
Oh, I get it. You are just another whiny hater.

When did the Patriots become the "social work" organization of the NFL?

The naysayers are asking "how could you hire a talented guy that screwed up?

This is where you are missing the boat. The naysayers are asking why a completely different spin is put on it when it's the Patriots "hiring a talented guy that screwed up".

I'm sure Patriots fans were posting left and right giving kudos to the Cowboys for giving Greg Hardy another chance.

You'll have to explain the spin to me.

1) it was a football decision to hire him
2) it was bad on need because of injuries
3)it was based on availability of candidates
4)it was based on cost of dumping contract, if necessary

Yes...and it was only a football decision based solely on him being able to help the Patriots win football games. Where I start to throw up a bit in my mouth is when certain Patriots' fans suggest that the Patriots organization signs these players so that they can help them in their time of need.

Don't go saying that to a mother who has lost a child that was run over by drunk driver.

They are both horrible...don't make one sound worse than the other.

Listen preacher did you ever drink and drive or hit a woman, be honest? I'm not condoning it and lost a nephew because the driver was cocked. Many many women die at hier hands of their husbands, bf's and especially exes
