Walker throwing the ugliest 1-hit shutout in MLB history and the Mariners suddenly can't do anything with this Neal guy. Really hope they don't need Diaz in this game. The kid needs a mental break.

Hol-lee crap this Zack Neal guy has retired 15 straight Mariner batters and what looked like a pending massacre earlier in the game has suddenly become a reasonably close game at 5-1 going into the 8th.

Cano is having an MVP season, just amazing. Man, I hope its not wasted on not making the post season, this team is ripe for a post season run.

His numbers are great as long as he's not in a save situation. I don't have any problems with him being a late inning set up guy.

So far so good. 2 games to go.

I think it's very unlikely that Baltimore will lose both. So that leaves Detroit and Toronto. I think Toronto very likely will lose one of their last 2 to Boston. So it comes down to Detroit. Detroit had a game postponed yesterday, so they will actually have to come home on Monday and play a game against Cleveland. Hopefully Detroit loses one of the last 3, but they are the team I am most concerned about. Atlanta sucks and Cleveland isn't going to screw up their playoff rotation for what is a meaningless game for them. Still like you said the M's gotta go 2-0 to begin with or none of this will matter anyway. Hard to believe this could happen.

I wouldn't necessarily say that that is a meaningless game for Cleveland. Texas clinched the #1 seed in the AL playoffs, but Boston and Cleveland are still battling it out to see who gets home field for their ALDS matchup. Right now, Boston has a half game edge thanks to that rainout Cleveland had against Detroit. If they want home field in that series and they know they can get it by playing and trying to win that make up game, it could have a big impact on who plays in that wildcard game and who hosts it.

Yes, could very well come down to Mondays make game with so many teams future still up in the air... WC, home games, etc... Monday could be a very exciting day! Let's hope so!

... and Atlanta had gone 9-1 in their last 10 games with the Tigers coming into town so Atlanta could get a game or two... Boston getting one on Toronto today will be tough with Happ taking the mound for the Blue Jays... All in all, this is the best time of the year for baseball, especially when we still have a glimpse of hope...

A little off-the-wall Nelson Cruz trivia for your fine Saturday morning: Cruz has become only the 4th player in MLB history to put together three consecutive 40-homer season after his 33rd birthday. The other three are Bonds, McGwire, and Ruth

Good luck M's fans. Would like to see the Mariners snap their postseason drought, I've always had a soft spot for the Mariners. Enjoyed watching them during the Edgar/A-Rod/Olerud/Ichiro days.

Yeah, you think YOU enjoyed those days....man....I still cannot understand how the late 90s teams didn't win a title. Randy Johnson, Griffey, Edgar, ARod, Buhner, Moyer, just stacked and always had something go wrong at the worst time. Anyway, exciting month of baseball around here.

I heard something about Seattle having the choice to either play 2 games at home or 1 game on the road, which would be the winner of Toronto or Baltimore or Detroit... Don't quote me, but I heard something about that.. So I guess we would have the choice... I could be wrong though... Just throwing it out there..
It was discussed for a bit on the radio earlier in the week -- I heard the guys on 710 talk about, cannot remember which show. It's what happens with a 3-way tie for the 2nd wildcard spot. Somehow it would be our decision to be home to win 2 or 1 on the road, but I think that was if the tie involved Baltimore. Not sure we still have that same advantage if it's Toronto, which is now the team that we are most likely to catch between those 2.

That's a fair point.

That's what I thought, it's confusing for sure, but it's something like that... I guess we'll find out if we get there... GO REDSOX! GO BRAVES!
