Wentz has looked fantastic the first two games. Should have had close to 300 yards last night if not for those drops. If you watch him play you can see he is years ahead of the curve. With that said.......he is a rookie......he is going to struggle at some point this season. I honestly believe he will have a poor game against the Steelers next week but I think he could be very good to All-Pro provided he continues to learn. He has far exceeded my expectations to be honest.

Cleveland has to be to worst run NFL franchise in NFL. They need a new slogan "Cleveland.....where NFL careers go to die".

same can be said about Jimmy G. I think we as fans are all going like this:

latest
right now when we really shouldn't be. With that said, BOTH QBs (Wentz and Jimmy G) do seem to be posed QBs and currently do not look like rookies or inexperienced

I honestly don't see anything wrong with the firing if it caused disruption with the team front office itself. However in order to not be criticized you need to be a team that has a history of success. The Browns are not that franchise.

I always thought Jimmy G was a good QB and probably would be the defacto starter on a lot of teams in the NFL.

Yeah seeing him play in an actual live game that matters I tend to agree with you. Now that he played he probably will get his shot. Assuming he doesn't screw up his shoulder anymore

I think his development and ability was the reason the Pats parted with Mallett. People can say what they will about the Pats. While I do not like nor dislike the team I don't know of another organization that recognizes talent better than them.

Pump the brakes, lol. Close to 300? He finished with 190. His average yards per attempt through 2 games is 6.59. He's mostly dinking and dunking against two horrific teams. I realize that his receivers have dropped some passes on him that would've inflated his numbers a bit, but let's be realistic here.

That said, he was my pick over Goff. I do believe Goff has superior arm talent, but Wentz has that leadership gene that you just can't teach. He's gung ho and will drag the team along with him if necessary.

Cleveland will have their choice of several quality QBs early in next year's draft. This way, they get a bunch of picks first, then add the QB to the mix. Had they taken Wentz, they would've lost all those extra picks (Corey Coleman, Shon Coleman, Cody Kessler, Ricardo Louis, Derrick Kindred, Spencer Drango, Philly's 2017 #1, Carolina's 2017 #2, Philly's 2018 #3. Not the most inspiring list of names after the Colemans, but more picks yet to come.

Will it be with the Patriots though? He's got one more year after this one, then he's a FA. Brady thinks he's playing forever. Does Jimmy hang around and wait for Brady to retire?

I would hope so, then again the Patriots rarely do that and the way he's played they could get a decent haul for him so we will have to wait and see. I hope he stays but looks like he might not

Drafting a QB is generally a crap shoot - particularly using a high first round pick. I do not recall anyone saying Wentz or Goff were can't miss prospects. In fact Philly planned to red shirt Wentz because they did not feel he was ready. I also cannot recall the Browns being roasted for trading out of the pick. As I recall they were admired for what they got for the pick. We are all much smarter after the fact and yes it now appears they probably should have taken Wentz. The book is still out on Goff. The book is also still out on what they do with those picks they got for trading down.
Having said that Browns fans should hope that management figures out how to assess QB prospects and makes the right choice. Their track record ain't too great in that regard.

I was being realistic the dropped TD was about a 30 yarder IIRC and the deep ball dropp by Aghalor was 40+ I believe but I could be wrong. That takes us to about 260. All I am saying is that he played a whole lot better than the stats show. I watched the entire game and those were not the only drops. But hey....drops are part of the game and I get that. I think YPA is an overrated stated because it does not take into everything. YPA is based on yards and does not take into account blatant drops. Wentz also has not thrown any interceptions and he has yet to make that stupid throw a lot of QB's make.....but I am sure one is coming soon. When you look at the game and you compare the two QB's. Wentz looked like the vet and Cutler looked like the rookie.

That said, he was my pick over Goff. I do believe Goff has superior arm talent, but Wentz has that leadership gene that you just can't teach. He's gung ho and will drag the team along with him if necessary.

I will not pretend to know how strong Goff's arm is so I can make a legit comment on that. However there is more to playing QB than arm strength (I know you were not saying that). McNabb had a cannon and I was and still am a big Mcnabb fan but Wentz has a work ethic that goes beyond phsysical skills. He is also a student of the game and that is what makes or shall I say will make him a special QB.

Cleveland will have their choice of several quality QBs early in next year's draft. This way, they get a bunch of picks first, then add the QB to the mix. The problem with Cleveland is that they have idiots running the asylum. They had high draft picks repeatedly and seem to always get them wrong.

Wentz looks decent but...

The Eagles would be 2-0 right now with Bradford and the Browns would be 0-2 right now with Wentz.

We need a bigger sample size here but its good to see that Wentz at least look capable from the start.

CW's 1st real test is next week when duh $tealers$ (11th in total D last year) visits the Land of Cheesesteaks. Pretty sure Pittsburgh will take care of business though.

On Wentz vs Goff, it is fair to say Wentz wound up in a far superior situation in terms of coaching advice for a young QB:

Dude... there have been countless QB's who have looked great only to fade away but Wentz sure has looked a HELL of a lot more then "decent". He has looked fantastic. Usually rookie QB's play limited roles and dink and dunk but Wentz has been absolute MONEY on deep throws, deep outs, throwing against his body into tight windows. Come on man, he's been phenomenal (against two very bad teams).

But with that said the worst thing for his development is if he has a big game and beats Pittsburgh. 98% of Philly will say he is the next Montana and thats just stupid and too much pressure. It is hard... VERY HARD to play pro sports in Philly. I know it sounds crazy but a win would send Philly into an absolute frenzy and he is too inexperienced and young to take that on so early.

Wentz is looking good so far but it's only 2 games. Still I'd take him over anyone the Browns have right now.

Wentz probably would have busted in Cleveleand anyway...because they're Cleveland. Wentz should thank them.
