"Why didn't Seattle put in an expansion bid??!!" -Gary Bettman

If the council approves the amendments, the city and team will reach a settlement that will keep the Coyotes at Gila River Arena for at least the next two seasons while ending the legal battle between the two sides.

Okay, the out clause has been removed, but then what happens at the end of the 2016-17 season (and the Coyotes has likely lost another 70 to 80 million dollars)

apparently they were stepping on their own dog shit :noidea: lol

as dash has pointed out, one of the Seattle groups has already been close to pulling the Coyotes out of Glendale in the past 24 months ... they know the situation there better than any other of the groups in cities across north america that were/are potential expansion candidates

I wouldn't say it's likely at all. It was saying a joint arena with the suns or their own arena in Maricopa county was now possible but I highly doubt those two options. Unless they started construction while the final two years are played out in Glendale.

Jeff Fillion has released a bombshell this morning on Radio X waves by stating that Quebecor refused to buy the Arizona Coyotes since the price was too high.

It's Maxime Truman blog Danslescoulisses who shared information Fillion on social networks, the latter claiming that the leaders of Quebecor had the opportunity to buy the Coyotes before the expansion process of the NHL.

We could have hockey in Quebec now, but Pierre Dion would have preferred to refuse the offer of Gary Bettman due to the high price asked by the Commissioner of the League.

The Jets relocated 5 years ago for a $110 million franchise purchase fee and $60 million relocation fee.

Why the fuck would any businessperson with any sense pay 4.5x that amount 5 years later for a franchise that is struggling far worse to move to a better situation than even Winnipeg (given that QC has a bigger arena that will almost guaranteed sell well)? What the hell does Bettman/BOG think the league has done in the past five years that has increased their appeal so much? Held another lockout? The fact they found a dipshit dumb enough to give them half a billion dollars for a franchise in Vegas doesn't mean that's what a franchise is worth - at least 5 cities probably had interest in an expansion franchise but only two put in offers, ya think maybe you were aiming too high with your fee?
