How about Kliff Kingsbury? He is a first time HC at TT. He signed an extension and received a raise following the '13 season. He got a bump over $3 million per year. He is 1-11 vs year end ranked teams.

TT has finished 19-19 overall and 10-17 in conference.

Heard the Tank Battalion Champs had another good run?

All the coaches I cited are first time HC's. No previous MAC experience or any of the other bullshit we get thrown at us by the resident troll.

In 2015 Dabo Swinney made $3.3 million, Beamer made $2.5 million, Fraud made $2.9 million, these are all much better, proven coaches. In the article ranking coaches results and abilities, Holgorsen and Doc were nearly tied at about 50, Holgorsen gets paid almost $3 million, Doc makes $750,000...... Holgorsen's offer was MUCH more than fair!!!

Why would anyone compare salaries of coaches from conferences like the ACC or the PAC 12 to those from the Big 12? Those conferences are barely in the ballpark of WVU or other Big 12 schools.

If you're gonna compare Dana's worth... compare it to schools in conferences that make serious coin. Or shut the fuck up...

Let's look at Dan Mullen's record vs. top 25 year end ranked teams. From '09-15... he is 2-29.

Dan Mullen competes in a division that's challenging. But, they play a laughable OOC schedule every year. Oh yeah... Dan Mullen just signed an extension in '15 for a $1 million dollar bump.
Dan Mullen has won at least 8 games several times and has had a 9 and 10 win season. Dana.....one 8 win season.

Let's look at Mark Stoops... the UK coach. No HC experience prior to UK.

He signed an extenstion after just one year at UK for over $3 million. He is 0-12 against year end ranked teams.
UK extended him because he was recruiting well (flipped one from WVU if memory serves) and raised expectations (stole our QB guru Dawson too...who was fired at UK in short order) . He is on the hot seat now because he hasn't produced enough wins either, they overpaid.... Like Ollie did.

Why would you compare SEC coach salaries where they take football so seriously to a second rate school like WVU, who has never won anything.......Ridiculous as usual Holgorsen is making MORE than a fair salary, and to argue otherwise shows a severe bias.

Still trying to figure out how he is over paid....4 out 5 wining seasons, one BCS bowl, 4-7 to 7-6 to 8-5...so a first time head coach who has shown improvement over a 3 year period (one of which he told everyone we would improve when we got the numbers) and we do not want to protect him or the program....makes sense you Stewsuckers.

Listen whether it DH or anyone at HC in this situation Lyons has fucked up protecting the program. The money was worth the risk to not set us back another two years in numbers and talent. We can afford to take risk like that these days. It is mind boggling some of your thought processes.

One of two things will happen...DH has a bad season and we can him anyway----recruiting takes a major hit. If DH starts this season off good, I would say 4-0 or 5-0 which is a possibility, we need to ink him so he can save the class. I could care less how much our coach makes, but I do care about the health of the program and Lyons is hurting that more than DH.

We will see......it all starts on Tuesday.

Great point! He's beaten exactly 2 year end ranked teams since 2009 to win all them games!

Suck on that...

I guess Luck set the standard for everyone who received extensions. Our new dumb fuck thinks he's following national trends. But, then can't stay committed to those decisions.

Tennessee followed Luck's plan when they extended Butch in '14... Then bumped up his salary in '15.

Butch Jones receives an extension from Tennessee

Lots of money for mediocrity...

Which means exactly what? He has a contract through 2020... making serious coin... and raking in top recruiting classes.

At the same time, our fucking AD has assured more kids from our recruiting board will head to schools not named WVU.

I guess we can get excited an OL prospect with offers from Arky St chose WVU today. LOL!

May have factored a little. Don't remember how I got to bed Thursday night.

However, our 2nd match (9 hole)... our opponent started birdie, birdie, birdie, par, par...

Sippy and me went par, par, birdie, bogey, birdie... to be 2 down after 5...

Even though he's in WV now, Pitts was never a born-in-bred, bleed blue and gold kid. I believe that he moved to WV from Maryland?? His parents said that one of the reasons he picked PSU was because of the possibility of DH not being here after this season. Keep in mind too that 17-18 kids are immature and flighty. 2017 signing day is a long ways away. If PSU has another stinker season, WVU wins 9 or 10 games, and DH gets an extension, he could change his mind.

Also, as another poster stated, I think a lot of these kids want to get out of rural WV. As unfortunate and sad as it may be, who can really blame them? I love my state and I chose to stay here but what does WV have to offer this generation? There's not much of a future here and it truly pains me to say that. Fortunately, my wife and I both work in the medical field so we're pretty stable but a lot of folks can't say the same.
