Was up til 3 binge watching making of a murderer on Netflix. Woke up and watched another episode. Cant stop. So good

I watched it all over the past 2 days and wow.

Thank goodness I'm not poor, uneducated or in a legal battle with a Sheriff's relative.

I was so disgusted with our legal system after watching it.

I finally finished the show last night. First of all it was done very well. I would have never thought 10 episodes about this, some over an hour long, would continue to be interesting. It really was.

I do not know that Avery is innocent, but there is no way he should have been convicted with what they showed on the series. And I do not think there is anyway the murder happened like they said it. At times they point out how low his intelligence is, at others they make him out to seem like a criminal mastermind.

None of the evidence not shown that has been in the press recently really changes my mind.

Brendan's first lawyer needs a good beat down.

Overall, its kind of like the first season of the Serial podcast. In no way do I think they should have convicted the person, but without a credible alternative suspect I have trouble completely believing they are innocent. I do realize in the Avery case the lawyers were not allowed to really present another suspect.

I hope he did it, being in prison 28 years for crimes one didn't commit has to be terrible. I have been married for 18, so I kind of understand but still....

When he was younger Avery reminded me of Brett Hull, better looking or worse looking I couldn't decide. Smarter or not as smart I couldn't decide.

as i watched the series, it clued in that I remembered seeing an episode of dateline on the whole case way back in the mid 2000's ... i remembered them talking about the edta issue in that dateline episode ... youre right, to do 10 episodes that were so engrossing was very good work by the producers/film makers

as far as the defense coming out now and saying crucial evidence was left out of the doc

I agree that the information shouldnt have been left out but as you say ... it doesnt make me believe avery did it necessarily

the whole sexual touching allegation by Dassey was made after he was interrogated by O Kelly and then fassbender&weigert and they seemed to convince him about other stuff too :noidea:

and the part about avery calling her cell ... yah thats pretty damning but what about the ex and the brother ... they may or may not have deleted messages from that phone :noidea:

finally, an issue that my bro and I talked about ... what does former atlanta brave Steve Avery think of all this?

The thing that really struck me about the phone was how weird it was that the brother and ex a) first thought was to try to hack into her phone records and b) somehow were able to guess her password. WTF??

I agree with your points.

I cannot understand why they needed money for attorneys and cousin Sean never offered any financial help.

Yeah, nothing creepy about that.

the early news footage - i believe captured before the rav 4 was found or same day as it was found - that had the ex and brother together answering questions as to when they stepped foot on the property and they stammered and stuttered to answer that question to reporters ... "um ... no ... uhh we havent entered the property" struck me as equally very very odd

lucky guess on that voice mail password huh ... combination of their sisters birthdates ... right .. sure

And Brendan went from corrupt lawyers to inept lawyers. How could the second ones not want the rest of the interrogation played.

Narcos on Netflix is top notch.

Just six months later I finish it. It was excellent. My wife knew very little of Pablo so it was fun to see her reaction for some of the stuff that he did. I think seeing some of the stuff in a fiction movie would seem over the top to me.

Yep

I saw episode 1 online on tmngo canada on canada day july 1 not realizing it was released early and i would have to wait until sunday to see episode 2 on tv. My wife thinks its too slow paced/dark but i find it well done. Not over the moon yet about it though. I do like how they focus on certain images/scenes that seem inconsequential but u just know or can see it will mean something down the line in a further episode (ie how they hang on the scene last episode of the front desk police clerk as they sign out and change shifts). Through 2 episodes youve been shown jack stone doesnt care about facts that show innocence. Hes just looking for a procedural angle to get naz off on the charges. And like i said above, they keep showing scenes which will be important to this imo

James gandolfini with exec producer credit threw me for a loop

/ive enjoyed outcast. Give that a try. Acquired taste though lol

I've cancelled the TMN / HBO package until I can binge Westworld, but it sounds like Night Of could be really good too. Read a newspaper article (like, an actual, paper newspaper) touting it, sounded good.

About 4 episodes into Stranger Things and it's awesome! I love everything 80s about it. The music is amazing. I even love the titlecard. A little obsessed, I guess. Born in 82, I just missed the era they are portraying, but I grew up on Goonies, ET, etc... and was close enough that the film really resonates. (Not so much with my wife.)

I will say, the show is a lot scarier than I anticipated. Not, like, horror-movie scary, but frightening. I thought the subject matter would be lighter...

I thought about that but had not heard much of anything about it, good or bad, and wasn't sure I wanted to watch another Kirkman show. I might still give it a try.

Westworld looks good! The original movie was pretty flawed but I still really liked it. In series form they should be able to get into some interesting stuff.

I like it so far. I did read the comics years and years ago so I have some kind of idea where its going, even though I do not remember much of them. If I had not read them I am not sure I would have stuck with the show, at times its really all over the place. I like the three leads.

Stranger Things was great, just finished it last night. Lots of nostalgia, brings back some good childhood memories. Strong King/Spielberg vibes as has been hammered on by like every reviewer.

I'm in the same boat, born in '86, but I grew up on motown, new wave, and metal, so the 80s were strong throughout the 90s in my household. It's more the integration of Dungeons & Dragons and the cast of kids, they were great and I was a huge D&D nerd as a kid, lol. I love the music and the intro is perfect.

I'd say growing up in the 80s or 90s in America was essentially the same thing, save for the occasional reminder in the 80s that at any second the red menace could bolt out of your TV set and cut your dog's head off.

It wasn't until the late 90s and beyond that childhoods really took a drastic turn from what we experienced thanks to the huge changes in technology and the occasional reminder that terrorists could bolt out of your flatscreen any second and cut your dog's head off.
