Deng is a great addition as a mentor, but not sure about the years if this is accurate. Hopefully there are team options for years 3 and 4.

interesting...

too many years imo, but if there's opt out clauses(like i'm hearing in the Mozgov deal) this ain't TOO bad. plus the bench and mentoring for Brandon Ingram will help out as well...

I'm a Bullets fan so I am happy that we have a decent team that will make the playoffs IF (Beal) we stay healthy but once in the playoffs its the Capitals all over again I don't expect much.

It's true.
He's a good player, but 4 years is a lot.
Hopefully you have some option in year 4.

yeah, that's what I get for checking CBSSports.com first because they obviously hadn't put it up yet...

and I agree, unless there's opt out clauses in this AND the Mozgov deal these 4 year contracts are a bit much...

I'm confused.
Isn't your local team the Wizards? :noidea:

You said Bullets fan...

Seriously my 19,000th post is this one. Bullets changed their team name to Wizards because it was to offensive and showed DC as a bad city. However the name Redskins isn't offensive? Just because you change the name from Bullets to Wizards will not make the city safer.

This cap floor is pretty steep at 10% under cap. If teams cannot get their guy, they are going to be paying too much for the majority of the team. Forcing every team to have a max player is changing the definition of max.

I like this one better then Mozgov, but with these two players, the Lakers have two veterans that will play defense and teach the kids defense. It is there veteran leadership that is more important then their game

Solid signing, and I actually prefer this one to the deal Bazemore turned down last night. Same money, but much more veteran leadership and positional flexibility at the 3 and small ball 4 (or even 5, as Miami used him at times last year).

Very happy with this. Deng can still play and is a solid veteran presence in the locker room. Exactly what they needed.

As a Sixers fan I like this. Lakers shouldn't be bad enough to have another top 3 pick, but still won't be good enough to make the playoffs.

Yeah, it's time for the Lakers to move out of lottery land anyway. They have a good young core, they got a couple of solid vets who can still play a bit to help teach the young guys. If the young guys continue to develop, they should be able to get into the 30 wins range which should start making them more attractive to FA's.

The Lakers goal this year is to move into the 30 + wins and if they do that - the free agent market will open up for them with tier one players. Last year they tried to get players like Aldridge and failed for the obvious reasons. By the time they had wasted chasing pipe dreams, the second rate players were gone. This year they wisely have swooped down on the second rate players, signed some to four year deals that will enable them to change the veteran players for super-stars when the draft picks are completely developed

Veteran leadership and lineup flexibility. Certainly needed for this team. As others have said, hopefully there is at least a 4th year team option.

There are still a few lineup spots to fill. In my opinion, they shouldn't take on much more longer term salary. They need to preserve 2017 cap space for one max player. Two is out the window now.
