Who knows. He has been a lifetime assistant. Supposedly he is highly thought of around the NBA.. whatever the hell that means when talking about a guy that is in the background. I wish him well. But Heat fans know as much about him as everyone else... he sat on the Heat bench for a decade with a clipboard.

When they say that, it usually means that players like him and he does a good job working with them in practice. Stuff we fans don't get to see.

if Bosh had to retire- and Whiteside was offered a max by the Lakers to go play with Russel, Simmons, and veteran free agent X and decided to take it....

would Wade really back to Miami to live out his career? Why not come to Cleveland with your "BEST friend"?

If the Lakers come calling with a max contract- and the lure of LA AND a good young roster potentially headlined by simmons/russell/randle and veteran free agent X- i certainly wouldnt put it passed whiteside to go there. Id ball park it 50/50 that Whiteside stays or goes. Does that seem reasonable?

And Bosh- I think everyone agrees that the best case scenario is Bosh comes back , and makes another 2-3 all star games and coasts to a hall of fame career. I hope thats what happens. Ill ball park it at about 50/50 that Bosh is cleared to resume his career...does that sound reasonable?

The chances of both not happening are about 25% in my estimation...if the Heat lose Whiteside to free agency, and Bosh to this terrible unforeseen condition, does Wade comeback? Thats my question. I certainly dont think we know the answer to that.

Am i wrong? Is Wade committed to being a lifetime member of the Heat even if they dont have a contention oriented roster around him? Maybe he is......he has said as much- but people say PLENTY of things before that deadline comes and goes. If he did decide to leave why not come play with LEBron for a year or two like LeBron was talking about during the season?

What a leap. But then again, it's you, so no one is surprised.

As the article says, Riley is old school. He hates that shit. He hated that Magic and Isaiah were such good friends and was glad when Magic clobbered him in the finals.

Of course they are. They'd be stupid to just throw a max contract at him. If they can convince him to stay on a hefty raise, but a less than max contract, that's smart business and can help them improve the roster. I would guess that would be their approach. Sort of, "look how far we went without Bosh. Imagine what we could do if you sign for less than a max and we can add another piece or 2 and Bosh is cleared to play."

If the Lakers interest in Whiteside is real (I believe it is) then they could really screw things up for the Heat because they have the good young roster that you mentioned, plus enough money to give Whiteside a max and add another max player on top of that. Or they could offer him a max deal, give the bench a serious upgrade and have enough left to add another max level guy in the 2017 FA when the cap jumps again.

If the Lakers make a big offer to Whiteside, it will be interesting to see how the Heat react.

They have Whiteside and Richardson on cheap contracts... It would suck as far as being at best a low seed playoff team for the next two years, but those are breaks sometimes.

If Bosh stays healthy were ok.
If Bosh retires were solid starting in '17.
Our problem will be if either A or B don't happen.
