Absolutely it was too much. I was begging for them to stay at 8 and get the bookend tackle of the future in stanley. Another draft with no o-linemen early. Its not gonna matter which qb they get when they have shit blocking for him.

Maybe they'll take Tunsil:hope:

What do all Franchise QB's have in common? P Manning, Brady, Rodgers, Brees etc ....? They all have it together between the ears ... they all can look at a D and know where the weak spots are, where all the best match ups are, where the hot reads are .... Wentz looks like he has plenty of that and on top of it has great size and physical tools. I'm very excited I get to root for him for the next 12 plus years.

And they can all string together a whole bunch of passes in a row from the pocket to execute on what they see.

If the trade had Agholor or Marcus Smith you would all be saying it is a steal. 1st round picks, especially outside the top 10 is a crap shoot. Losing a 1st rounder next year is not the death nail, especially if we have another 7-9 season which is not unreasonable. I think it is a great trade, especially when the picks are spread out over three years.

Stanley is soft. Didn't like him at all. We'll get some OLs later, plus we'll trade Bradford for more picks.
When? 4th round? 5th round? Hot damn, we can get some more late round olinemen if any at all. You don't build a solid line through late round picks. You build them with studs on the ends early.

It's not rally a steep price. A first and third and fourth this year (which is a swap of firsts), a first next year, and a second next year, and a third. Really, that all? We got a steal!

A top 10 pick this year. A probable top 10 pick next year. An upper mid 3rd this year and a probable upper 3rd next year. Add in the 2nd and that's a steep price. We now have 2 picks in the 1st 4 rounds this year. Your #1 this year won't play. And they still have holes to fill and players to replace for the future with no picks to do it.

2016 picks to build a team round the QB - one 3rd rounder
2017 picks to build a team around the QB - one 2nd rounder
2018 picks to build a team around the QB - one 1st and one 3rd

Over the course of 3 years we will have as many top picks as the good teams generally have in 1 year. And by the time Wentz develops all of our current players will be moving out of their prime. We'll have zero safeties, zero Dlinemen, 1/5 Oline.

Basically the team is trying to win the Super Bowl with Wentz, Matthews, Johnson, Rowe and Hicks as the only core players.

Exactly why I didn't want to do this. It was too much for all that we need. It's not often we agree, but here we do. I hope Wentz is the man that brings us a SB. I'll be happy to say I was wrong and this was worth it. But, as of now, I don't see it being a good deal.

Are you saying Bradford is worth a 1st round pick?

If the Eagles go a 4th rounder for Bradford, that would be a good haul for them. Bradford has never won anything, has a well-known injury history, and doesn't have the gravitas of a winner. No way does anyone give up more than a fourth for him, much less a first of any kind. Of course, there are crazy people or people who do crazy things in NFL front offices, so there's that.

If Wentz is such an elite prospect and seemingly better than Goff, why wouldn't the Rams take him?

The Eagles need a franchise QB of the future and it appears this year was the best bet over the next few years. If the reports are accurate it appears there will not be a good QB crop in 2017 or 2018. The Eagles are rebuilding and while a high cost was paid it was not as bad as it could have been. I saw a lot or scenarios that had us giving up picks and Cox. The be able to move up to the #2 pick this year while getting rid of dead weight and high contracts should have Howie in the running for executive of the year.

Because Goff is the most NFL QB in the draft. The Rams are desperate for a QB to come in and start away. Wentz has the most upside but is not ready to start right away.

Bradford starts and plays the iggles let him play the entire year. How he plays this year will determine his value. There are enough teams out there in need of a qb that if bradford has a successful year there will be an auction for him. They will get more than a fourth for him. Bradford also knows he's playing for the future, he's not throwing in the towel. I don't think it's a bad situation to be in.
The kid gets to sit, watch, and learn. The iggles don't need him to play this year. That's a good position to be in.

If I have this correct including the Bradford trade and contracts signed in the last year the Eagles have spent:

2 #1's, 2 #2's, a 3rd, a 4th and $36 million in guaranteed money plus whatever it takes to sign Wenz in return for an unproven rookie, Sam Bradford and Chase Daniels and a 4th.

Wow that's a lot to put into an iffy stable of QBs.

We basically give up a1, a 2, two 3s, and a 4th for a top rated QB. What's the problem. And we don't have holes to fill. Howie filled them in free agency, or won't you paying attention?

The more I look at it, the more I continue to like it ... we still have picks left this year to snag some players. We kept one of our 3rds when I thought we'd have to give up both and we have 2 5ths. You have to figure if we do indeed trade Bradford or Daniels we can get a pick back as well in this draft. Next year we had to give up a first, but aside from that we have a full compliment as well as an extra 4th. It's not like we're left barren because of this trade ... and we did a good job of filling out needs in free agency. The Skins gave up much more for RG3 ... he flopped and they're still ok. Hell, they even won the division last year.

It takes no balls to blow all your picks on 1 QB. The refrain is "oh well, shucks, didn't work out." It takes balls to piece together a team and Howie is looking like he doesn't have the stomach for it.

To trade up to a spot to take a QB where there is no guarantee he will be franchise guy? That not everyone unanimously says he will end up a franchise QB? A move like that does take balls. If this doesn't work, Howie is unemployed. I promise you that.

I don't really like it but this is a QB friendly O we're going to run. I'd rather have Goff too but he's screwed if Fisher is coach. All you can really do though is sit back and be a fan. No one knows what Wentz is going to be, we can only guess.

I pretty much agree completely with SI's Scouting Report for Wentz

SI 50, No. 7: Scouting NDSU QB Carson Wentz

I think the kid will be one of the top QB's in the league within 3-4 years. Superior QB IQ, all the tools you want and is a tireless worker off the field. You look at most of the Rd 1 flops and you see a bunch of guys who didn't want to put in the work in the film room and thought that they could get by on pure ability or arm like they did in college. Wentz isn't that type of guy ... the only draw back with him is the level of comp, but again, it's not like he will be thrown into the fire Game 1 like Goff will be with the Rams. The Rams are moving into a new stadium/city ... have an excellent D with a premier type RB and would rather get the guy who's more accustomed to the pro speed of the game. I like Goff as well, but I think they are making a big mistake by passing up Wentz (assuming that's what they end up doing).

I'm not buying giving up that much to sit a guy on the bench. Bradford more then likely will be traded.

So, if the Eagles trade Bradford they are just on the hook for 11 mil against the cap this year? I still haven't gotten a clear answer to this ....

AAAND....Josh Norman just became a free agent. Carolina rescinded his franchise tag and "Jeremiah Trotter'd" him.

Crazy Howie on line one?

Didn't the team say they would start Bradford and bring along Wenz?
