I was reading some stuff about the movie and one of the scenes they cut from the movie for budget reasons was Deadpool was suppose to have a huge gun fight at the end. They replaced it by having him forget his guns in the cab. I'm SO glad they made that cut. That scene was one of the funniest of the movie. PERFECT Deadpool too. I never would have guessed that wasn't what was originally written because that fits his character so well

I died laughing when the cab driver ends up sandwiched taking the call and you realize how even more fucked he is with the bag of deadpools guns in the back seat. Oh gawd.... I fell out of the movie seat. Poor guy.

Deadpool was decent. It was basically 70% Archer with 20% Emperor's New Groove style '4th wall' narration with 10% of the movie being anal jokes. The whole movie works because the whole movie is cookie cutter and Deadpool can just ride along making wisecracks at the cookie cutter nature of the movie. The opening credits are a great example of the film's self-awareness. Its not a very good movie at its core. Its a cheesy super hero movie from the 90s with someone realizing how stupid being in a chessy super hero movie from the 90s actually is.

The bartender actually ended up being more funny than Ryan Reynolds but together they were quite excellent. Ryan Reynolds was made for Deadpool and they definitely did the character justice. The fact that they can cut the movie in a manner in which Ryan Reynolds doesn't have to try and act out of his comfort zone works very well. Its like watching Saved By the Bell with a maniac and strangely worked best when Reynolds realized at various points in the movie just how old he actually is.

The whole movie came off as very Russian, too. Marvel clearly wanted to make this movie big in Russia. Its big everywhere, though, so good for them. I enjoyed myself. Just not something I'd buy and watch over and over again. Just a solid comedy with a good highway action scene.

I do think the fact that it is rated R is a bit off. The teenager version of me would have LOVED this movie. I was reading reviews on this like it would give kids nightmares. I feel like they have to say that but...c'mon. If you can watch Family Guy, you can watch Deadpool.

Just saw it for the 2nd time... Thought I'd chime in.

This movie is awesome. What Clayton said about it being cookie cutter is perfect. The plot was very weak, but it worked so well because it allowed the humor to take the front seat. Nobody is going to remember this movie for its plot, or a badass villain, or crazy FX & action, but rather people are going to remember the character himself. And that was what they intended. Deadpool & Ryan Reynolds are a match made in heaven. You put anyone else in that costume and it doesn't work nearly as well.

I can't wait for this to come out on DVD so I can see the outtakes. I was really hoping to see a blooper reel at the theater, but oh well. I can wait!

Anyone else recognize the "sideways" comment when showing the figurine of the x-men origins (wolverine) version of deadpool? I got a pretty good laugh out of that!

I didn't feel like I wasted my money or anything, but outside of the stunt work and choreography, I didn't think it was anything special.

Hoping Suicide Squad is a little better when it comes to the twisted humor anti-superhero thing.

Suicide squad is PG13, so it won't be able to come close to dead pool with humor or violence.

I read an interview with the gutless producer of SS who was dancing around the issue at times, but when pressed, he admitted they have to make sure the movie makes as much profit as possible and won't "complicate" the tie-ins with the other DC movies. Fucking spineless coward. Deadpools numbers prove what many fans of these characters have been screaming at these studios for years. You can do comic movies with R ratings which will
provide a better product and still make a pile of money for the studio heads in the process, if it's done right. Deadpool is a long over due nuke dropped on these clowns who are obsessed with PG13 ratings. Will they get the message? Probably not. Suicide squad is another project that would greatly benefit from a R rating considering whose involved, but Hollywood just couldn't help themselves. Watered down version to maximize laziness and profits won the day.


You can't really call suicide squad as anti-Heros. They're all pretty much villains who are responsible for a body count a mile long to begin with. It's more a "lessor of two evils" story. There is nothing heroic about these characters anymore. Some of their orgin stories will be presented as tragic and some as victims of circumstances, but still, ....

I gave it a 9. I've told some of my friends who aren't into comic book movies....to forget that part. Go see it as a straight up comedy.

Not really, McFarlane just loves talking about something but never actually doing it. He's been talking about continuing the Animated Series for years too. I'd honestly be cool with just a continuation of the Animated Series, as long as they get Keith David and Mark Hamill back of course. You talk about a voice that embodies Spawn then you're talking about Keith David.

Never watched the animated series. I've been growing into these non-animated series (arrow, flash, etc). So far everything has been awesome. I'd love it if they went with a non-animated Spawn series.
