There is a part of me that doesn't even want to see us get in the playoffs the way we've played of late. It's been sort of embarrassing. It doesn't mean I don't root for Notre Dame I just don't see a championship level team right now. I seriously question if our best will be good enough right now.
Agreed.

Another point I failed to mention above ... I know a win is a win, but damn, that just felt like a loss last nite in a sense.

I agree except for the last sentence; I seriously question if we'll play our best right now. I don't mind if our best isn't good enough, we'd know our best wasn't good enough, but when you don't even play your best or near your best, then you wonder what if...

that's exactly my point, it's like we have a V-8 engine firing on 5 cylinders. Quarterback looked bad, rb's and wr's coughing up fumbles and dropping passes, allowing late scores to horrible offenses, poor coaching decisions, the list is almost endless. These last two games were hard to watch. All that being said I'm still proud the way this team has endured all the injuries, it's the stupid mistakes that frustrate me. This really would and could have been our chance and it seems like it has passed by.

Have you ever had a shittier feeling on a 9-1 team. I just wonder if we've simply reached the saturation point due to all the injuries.

oh please .... we've played a LOT of bad games. it DOESN'T happen to good contending teams.

A lot? I say we played 3 bad games at most. Not every game is going to be your best. Get off your high horse

You don't get to 10-1 with our schedule by mistakr

Why would any of you not want to make the playoffs? That's just ridiculous.

We're 10-1. How does 10-1 equal "a lot" of bad games?

To you, we should win every game by 35+, and that's just not realistic. Every single team plays bad games. Was Wake a bad game? Because we beat them by 21, while Clemson beat them by 20.

I don't know, something about being in the national spotlight of the NC race and being over matched, such that we get beat so bad the score looks like 42-7 and that's being kind because the other team let up after whooping our asses for 3 quarters... that MIGHT have something to do with it.

I'd rather see the Irish win. Now we have done enough to know that we CAN play with the supposed best; Clemson. So in that respect, sure I hope we make it. But if we're going to play like we did last night, we'd be beaten by almost every team with a decent pulse. The near worst offense in the nation scored 16 against our top 1/4 to 1/3 defense and our top 1/3 Offense left arguably more points than they actually scored on the field (3 redzone turnovers, 5 in all). Sometimes you back your way into the postseason, sometimes you peak going into the postseason, both circumstances show you deserve to be there, but the latter gives you much more confidence.

Interesting thing I heard today in the NFL pregame hub-bub. Coach Parcells used to tell Mike Zimmer that sometimes a young team's worst position was to be in first place. There's good wisdom there. This team looks like it feeds off coach's energy or mood. Guess what that tells me? NERVOUS AS FUCK. And it's not translating into good play even if that's not fully true. Since we hit the top 4 spot we've been playing worse, not better. Now maybe they need to have a tough(er) loss that sparks a little something within to get better, to execute better on each and every play as a singular and as a collective, I don't know. Maybe it'll take something else, but it sure seems that whatever it is so far, it's not working. I could understand the first ball getting stripped, but 2, 3, 4? Nah. I'd have benched the freaking starters except for the Line for a series to send the message, or something else, because whatever coach is doing is not getting through. Mistakes are going to happen sure, but listlessness and lazy play should never be the case. I saw #10 on defense last night waving his hands like an official signaling incomplete while the ball was sitting on the ground. PLAY THROUGH. That shit should never have to be coached up DURING the game!

Sorry for my diatribe but that's how I feel about it. If you leave practice with coach having emphasized something, GO WORK ON IT SOME MORE.

all i have to say is i told u if we win out we were in.

The AP dropped ND to 6th. ND vs. Stanford is not the only big game next week. And there are the conference championships the next week. I think the Committee will begin to question how good Notre Dame is after yesterday's shit show. I would give us about an 80% chance to make it if we win out.

virginia, g. tech, clemson, temple. wake forest and bc. more than half that i believe nd played poorly in. not sure but i'd bet they didn't cover the spread of any of these games. they played well for periods of time and played poorly for periods of times in all these games.

10-1 is great. a win is a win ... but i've maintained that you can play poorly and still win if the team you're playing is weak enough.

They played bad against GA Tech? How? They absolutely dominated the game. It was just like the Pitt game. A game they dominated and took they foot off the gas towards the end of the game. Sorry couldn't take your post seriously after you said they played bad against GA Tech lmao

if 10 - 1 is all you look at then you're a poor judge of play.

and i don't follow clemson enough to know how many "poor" games they've played ... but it also has zero to do with what i'm saying. when fans are not happy after a win then i think that's an indication of how the team played. you want to look only at wins then why do you bother watching the games? just wait and see if we won or not and judge the team by that.

Notre Dame were up 30-7 with 2 minutes to play. They did not play bad against GA Tech. That is the biggest garbage I heard on here

i clearly remember lots of guys being upset about how that game went. i think the fional score was deceptive. GT is not a good team.

The game was never in question. Guys were upset because we allowed 2 garbage TDs in the final minute. Notre Dame dominated that game for the first 59 minute. You're making garbage up

we beat a 1-7 conference team by 8. when the scores occured doesn't much matter really. the fact they let up toward the end is an indication of poor play.

and even if you think this was not a good example you still have to explain away the other 5.
