I miss having a first class coaching staff. I don't know what you would call this coaching staff. It's like Jed and Baalke had a meeting and decided that their goal was to put together the least qualified coaching staff in the NFL.

I don't miss the offensive staff all that much despite some trying to boost up Roman these days. Give me Fangio and Shanahan and I am good to go.

The Niners still have some talent even thought we lost a half of famer ILB a couple of years early to retirement, a promising ILB to concussions a possible Hall player in Cowboy an above average left tackle for a year and Aldon an above average player to stupidity and we got back one very good player ILB Bowman, maybe if the injury doesn't shorten his career, so we are down four very good players one average guard in Iupati (now over paid) and added back one very good player.

It may be that being good enough to compete yet lose a lot of games and draft high may be the best option. I dunno maybe.

Last year the 49ers fielded a bunch of backups on defense a good portion of the year and the defense was still 5th best in the league and the team would have a pretty good record were it not for the inept offense.

Just stopped in to say I'd like to see Mangini relegated back to coaching the tight ends.

LOL, no. The current TE coach is better. Mangini is better suited to his old job in New England, DB coach or maybe Assistant DB coach.

Acker killed us today, whether it be losing track of Beckham on that TD, committing pass interference, or not making an INT when he had the chance. He's a young player. Hopefully, he learns and gets better.

No doubt. Seems the Giants were burning the zone defense all game also.

For sure. Eli passed for well over 400 yards. Our D simply had no answers today.

Screw that official that called us for PI. The guy was held way before the ball was in the air. Where was that PI call earlier in the game when you just called holding on T.Smith deep pass? Smith was 15 yards down the field with the ball coming when he was grabbed. Giants wr was grabbed 5 yards past the line of scrimmage. Show some damn consistency with your calls.

Everything is covered deep. At that point, you just hope for a crazy Cal-Stanford kind of play.

Well, if that was the case, where were the other 49ers in the area for laterals? A five yard route? Seriously?

And why the hell not chuck it deep? The worst that can happen is an INT, or an incomplete. But we could also catch one, or get a defensive penalty (and another play).

I am not a close follower, but I don't understand this offensive strategy. Nor the defense letting Vereen run pass routes untouched in that last drive.

A much better game, but still a loss.

A better game by the offense. The D played better last week. They were bad today

Yeah, someone should've been close to Boldin there so that he could pitch it. Chucking it deep and hoping for a penalty was an option, too. Either way we had an extremely low chance of success, so I'm not upset about that last play.

A bright spot is that Kap threw a TD in the red zone in the middle of the end zone. I read on this board that he hasn't done much of that. The TD was to Celek. Are we better off with Celek in the red zone than Vernon?

I think so. And better than McDonald. I don't recall Celek dropping a pass yet.

Great TD toss to Celek.

VD has disappeared the last few years.

And I am not sure why Bush is even around. He can't get his uniform on without hurting himself.

I was intrigued that when the 9ers blitzed, Manning often found a receiver in the middle of the field just a few yards downfield, and they plays went for a bunch of yards. Why can't the 9ers do that sort of play? And the early plays of tossing it quickly to the outside for WR screens, we did that twice early, and then went back to the run against the best run defense in the league. :noidea:

I was heartened a little by Kaep's throws to Boldin, lofting them up there and letting Boldin go get the pass. I am puzzled by Smith is such a non-factor. Wasn't he brought in to catch passes? He was targeted only twice today.

Reggie Glass has been very disappointing.

Smith is a deep threat. He's been a non-factor so far because of Kap's struggles and because our o-line doesn't provide us the time needed for deep passing plays. Only two official targets today for Smith, but I believe he drew three flags (two for defensive holding and one for pass interference, the latter being a 20 yard or so penalty). Both Smith and Kap did better today. I hope it continues.

Our defense simply lacks playmakers. Our secondary had four opportunities for an interception, but we only got one.
That's true. But I don't care if you are the worst defense in the league, you should be able to defend 82 yards of field with 1:41 left in the game. Especially when the Giants top three receivers were on the bench.

Meh, it was a routine throw that an college QB should make. It just seemed great because you've never seen Kaepernick throw to the middle in the red zone before. He only throws the ridiculous corner end zone lobs five yards out of bounds.

I thought Hyde ran the ball very well.

Corner is a tough position though; especially when you can't rush the passer. Not a single sack on Manning last night.

The gave Kaepernick plenty of time last night.
