Yes, that's exactly what he said, actually.

You need to adjust your understanding of the word "exactly."

In the postseason:

David Price - 47IP - 4.79ERA
John Lackey - 117IP - 3.08ERA

I must be some kind of idiot for not being sure that Price is a better choice to start a Game 1. . .

He's just pondering the merit of (lots and lots and lots) of experience and success for Lackey versus Price's lackluster playoff results.

That's not the same thing as saying "Lackey should definitely go ahead of Price." But, it does provide a valid argument that Lackey could be chosen over Price. 117IP is a sufficient sample size, and it's not like he got all those innings in 2002 and therefore they should be discounted for that reason. Lackey is coming off 200+ innings with solid numbers.

That's a very good case to be made if considering Price versus Lackey. I'd still choose Price, as would everyone (probably), but it's food for thought in Lackey's favor.

Eh, We've all wasted enough time on this already. I stand by my initial statement that Lackey is the worst #1 starter among all playoff teams.

What a bum. That's probably why he's only getting the MLB minimum this year. He should be embarrassed of himself, being worse than scrubs like Price, Kershaw, DeGrom, etc.

I swear I read the same thing everytime I see a Cardinals series.

Cardinals starters aren't good enough to match ______ (Cubs, Phillies, Brewers, Dodgers, Red Sox, Nationals, Braves, Mets, Rangers, Giants)

SSDD

And, in most years, it's true.

They only won 100 games, they suck! Duh!

BTW here's a sortable leaderboard of all the game 1 starters, just because I think that the Lackey hate is so stupid:

Major League Leaderboards » 2015 » Pitchers » Dashboard | FanGraphs Baseball

Interested to hear what makes Gallardo and Ventura so much better than him. Maybe it was the fact they pitched less innings, worse FIPs, and higher ERAs? Or was it the fact they walked a higher percentage of hitters?

In most years it doesn't matter or its a push.

I will say this about the starters - the Cardinals have to win game 1 and 2 or else their chance to win the series is pretty much nil. Lance Lynn always wears down, Carlos Martinez is done and Wacha is maybe worn out.

I gave you a Bullshit just because I wanted to

After arguing with Slinky for an hour about Lackey, I finally gave him a bullshit rating and he got all upset. I removed it and gave him a "winner" instead. For such a rough online persona he sure is soft.

I already said they were Great in the regular season. I just don't think they are ready for the sprint now; but the Cubs are.

As for TEX, I'm sure they would have used Hamels #1 if they didn't use him at the end of the season to clinch the division. I don't know what the hell the Royals were doing starting Ventura! He's definitely worse than Lackey.
