The Mariners have fired mgr Lloyd McClendon.

His firing leaves MLB with no African-American managers. Last season that happened was 1987. There's currently 3 managerial openings.

Yeah....none of the African Americans who have had managerial jobs have done much to distinguish themselves. Dusty Baker? He's famous for destroying young arms. Ron Washington? Seemed like a good manager, but couldn't lay off the nose candy. Don Baylor?? Meh.

Wasn't that said about the Astros, too?

Of course, its true with the Royals if they lose this game.

That's a good point. The Astros WERE napping. But winning the wild card game is a huge boost. Now they are on a mission with Kuechel looming in game 3....at home!

their just lucky they dont have to face lackey....

Lackey is lucky to be in the NL. I can't say much more than that. He was washed up and terrible in Boston at 32. But he's dominant in STL at 36. Doesn't add up.

John Lackey isn't scaring ANYONE. Worst game 1 starter for any of the playoff teams.

I'm sure the Cardinals are super disappointed that they didn't have anyone scary and had to go with the worst game 1 starter for any of the playoff teams.
