While I think some of this is just butthurt I have to agree with a few points. I will say this is Bob's make or break year with very similar circumstances that ended the Mack Brown era. Poor QB play, total change of offensive identify and coaching shake ups. It will either a great move or a last ditch effort to right the ship before going down. Tennessee game will be a huge barometer of showing that IMO.

Suppose Bob is run out of town, since he is younger do you think he moves to NFL or goes to another school? Or you think he is done?

I know he's mentioned he's been close to jumping to the NFL on a couple of occasions but I've always thought the college game was more in his blood than the pro. I could be totally wrong about that, but that's just my opinion. If he did get run out, I think he'd sit a year or two out to watch his twin boys who just started high school football and look to be pretty decent. But if the right situation presented itself earlier than that, who knows.

Actually, this could be a major issue. Texas has not released him from his LOI and he has now enrolled at OU. He can enroll anywhere, LOI only controls scholarship money. This one is likely to get some NCAA review, since the kid lost his appeal and now looks to be circumventing the system. This would be a huge precedent if Lampkin was able to receive a scholarship with 0 issues.

The whole thing was very shady.

Texas is a great academic school, but they dont have insane athlete academic standards.
They might be a little tougher than the rest of the Big 12, but they dont kill themselves like Stanford or Wisconsin.

He signed his NLI, but was too lazy and stoned to take a simple PASS/FAIL highschool class.
OU was the only school in the Big 12 with lax enough academic standards to get around that fact by a loophole.

I dont have anything against the kid, but I think the writing is on the wall for Stoops.
Taking in DGB, reinstating Joe Mixon.......

Stoops is a good coach, but this is how things usually start going south in a hurry when problem kids start getting in the school to bolster a flagging on field product.

Most OU fans on here are getting a little angry with it as well. It is a bad look for them.

Your "academic standards" quote is so ignorant it's killing me. Texas High Schools only require 1 Year(Semester) of a foreign language class to graduate HS. UT requires 2 Years(2 Semesters) of foreign language classes to Enroll. The kid graduated HS but was going to be required to take a summer class in order to enroll. Instead of rolling the dice of a possible fail at the class he decided to go to OU which only requires 1 Year(1 Semester) of foreign language to enroll. There is nothing LAX about the standards except people in Oklahoma realize that English (How to read and write it) in America is more important than Spanish, which has almost become the core language in Southern Texas.

The kid decided he didnt want to roll the dice on the possibility that if he does fail then he would be required to go to a JUCO and wait another half a year before even being able to enroll. It's not a loophole, its called English MOFO and do you speak it.

About the Whole DGB pickup, it was a stupid move and we all knew he wouldn't play a down at OU. I think it was more of a risk taking than actual thinking on Stoops' part.

Joe Mixon, as i absolutely do not condone the hitting of women, however i do believe in punishment and rehabilitation. That is what is wrong with this country and why our prison systems and the revolving door of prisons is so bad. People think just because you did something bad you should fry on the spot and never be given the chance of being a civil person again. That is an issue, some people make stupid ass mistakes, especially 18-21 year old kids in college, ill bet you made a few. But to continue to prosecute and punish him over and over and over without the ability to rebuild himself as a better person is just friggin crazy. Most don't know or have forgotten that Ryan Broyals was once kicked off the OU team and spent a year rehabilitating his existence as a citizen of this country and a human being...look at what he did for OU and look where he is now. You cannot continue to throw people to the wolves after a single mistake, unless you murder, r*pe, or ****** someone then its burn them at the stake. I have actually seen the Joe Mixon video, it is ugly but people are only seeing it from one side of the story, guy hits girl. And it is wrong to continue to punish someone who has paid their punishment already, now it is time to allow his mind to rehabilitate and become a better person with guidance.

I am not angry about the situation, i take it little by little. If Joe can prove himself to be a better person that people can look up to and show that he has changed through his rehabilitation, then that's all that is needed. I don't need to keep kicking a guy down when he is trying to get back up and better himself.

I know that I needed two semesters of foreign language to graduate from a Texas HS. Anecdotal evidence, sure. But evidence. A&M required two as well.

I loved his ignorant "all you need is English in merica" comment.

I wasn't required but 1 Semester of a foreign language in HS to graduate, and i graduated HS in Texas. And all Texas colleges require 2 Semesters of foreign languages to enroll. Maybe the kid didn't know that. Maybe his coaches failed him by not making sure that his senior year classes would ensure his enrollment. There is alot of maybes in this case. But either way, i have lived in Texas since 94, and even i didn't even know you were required to have 2 Semesters to enroll in any Texas college, of course i was in the Army so alot of requirements were waved for me when i went to college.

We are in America right, English is our native tongue correct? My seven years in Germany required me to learn German because most Germans who did speak English wouldn't speak it and you would get alot farther and more respect from the Germans if you spoke their language.

Pretty much everyone from my HS went to college, so perhaps that is why our ISD required two. :noidea:

its 1 year to of foreign language to get a non-conforming HS degree, not sure the proper term
its 2 year to get a standard degree. Parents need to sign off on 1 yr, because the kids are not eligible to attend a state University with 1 year.

Sorry, i went to a public school, where we had morons, gang bangers (and wannabes), and idiots alike. There were plenty of failures in my school, not because it was a bad school, because it was in the friggin 90s and the area i lived in was not as well developed and my parents couldn't afford to put me in a private school where they teach you college level courses, i had to teach myself that shit.

Must be a new thing, i still wasn't required but 1 semester to get a "Standard Degree" as you say it.

Since a bunch of things on this. I think it is 3-5 years old. Guidance counselors are required to contact the parents if the education their child receives is below the threshold for a state University. I saw it on the internet so it has to be true

Makes perfectly good sense. Still doesn't change my position on the entire thing.
