Am I the only one who find it funny that LeBron and the Cavs need people counting them out to be motivated for the freaking finals? That was a dumb comment by James. It is the NBA FINALS. YOU SHOULD NOT NEED ANY MOTIVATION

Turnup is downplaying the Cavs accomplishments? shocking

Not true.
I said "nothing special".
Despite any injuries, they were heavily favored in their path through the East.
I've acknowledged that the role players have been very good through that point.

If they find a way to win this series, it would be a major upset and accomplishment.

If they lose, it's the proverbial nice season, but not a special one.

We did it against Chicago and Atlanta, we can do it against GS.

Doesn't work that way. We hoped that plan would work last year, but the Spurs didn't oblige.
Words, phrases, quotes won't beat the Warriors 4 of the next 6 games.
Gotta do it on the court.
Good luck with that.

Shocking.

You also called them losers.

" understand that we were the underdog coming into the series, and with Kyrie being out, people are writing us off. So, I mean, that's fine. That's fine. I'm motivated to get our guys ready to go tomorrow [for Game 2], and we will be ready.''

is this the quote we are talking about? or is there a different one? I don't see whats wrong about this. Players say things along the lines of "we'll use it as motivation" all the time.

He didn't say anything that implies they were not already motivated.

Wow, this is just plain idiotic. Coming into the series, 2 of our best players were already out. Now, 3 of them are out. Meanwhile, Golden State isn't dealing with a single bit of that. Yet, you're gonna say the Cavs are still "losers". What a jackass.

You've got to be kidding.
It's the NBA Finals.
It's for a championship.
You do 1 of 2 things.
Win or lose.
Maybe you're happy with moral victories but I'm sure the players aren't.

If that was their mindset, why would James bolt after losing to a clearly better team last season?

Not sure what your last statement means.

A team making it this far without 2 of their best players and playing several games (including here on out) without 3 of their best players doesn't make the team losers. It makes them a damn resilient team who clearly has a tremendous amount of depth, talent and leadership. If they overcome this and win it all, they should make a separate trophy for Lebron, because this would be unbelievable.

If GS lost Bogut and Green, and then Thompson just went down for the year (after missing several previous playoff games), would you call them losers too? I'd call them incredibly unlucky, but sure as hell not losers.

I don't recall him saying they weren't motivated before that. I'd say their play in game 1 showed a pretty damned motivated team, no?

Heat fan/player mentality was ALWAYS championship or bust.
No excuses.

If yours is different, fine with me.

You don't think the Cavs have that mindset?

Yeah they've now got the odds tremendously against them but they're not making excuses. Nobody is.

You sure hate it when people try and say anything in favor of Cleveland/Lebron.

But Lebron said it so it's automatically stupid and ridiculous in the eyes of many of the posters on here. Sounds like the quote of a true leader.

What comment are you referring to?

When the reporter asked about how he felt on everyone writing them off... LeBron said he didn't even know what the "outside noise" is cause he isn't paying attention, but if they are that's fine well be ready for game 2.

You're making stuff up.
I always said James was the best player.
I said give the Cavs all the credit for what they've done.
But, I've always said championship or bust.

IMO, nothing's changed.
