It's about that time right before it gets started.

Reminisce with me and list your favorite tournaments.

Preferably something that's not your favorite just because your team won, but that's cool too. I got three.

1990 - I kinda idolized Kenny Anderson as a kid and loved Georgia Tech. I also liked the LMU story and there were so many close games and upsets in this tournament.

1997 - I loved the backcourt dominated team of Arizona and how they were able to knock off not just three #1 seeds, but three really strong ones chock full of NBA players. Of course, they had NBA players themselves. This is almost exactly when prep to pros came in and the tournament started going downhill.

2008 - 2008 kinda had what I think makes a good tournament formula. Some good first round upsets, a great Cinderella, but at the end, the big boys are playing for the marbles. I think that's how this year will go, and I hope it does.

1987. Bet my 6th grade teacher a king size bag of M&Ms. Unfortunate Indiana beat Shracuse and I lost.

All 3 of Calhoun's NC teams. He was my fav coach.

Seemed all of the tourneys in 90 were A+

1976, even though Michigan lost to Indiana in the championship game I thought was a dam good tournament. ''89'' was my favorite one of all, M won it all

1997 - This year will always stick with me. It was the first tournament I can actually recollect watching. #14 seed UT-Chatanooga reached the sweet 16 against God Shamgod and #10 Providence, who upset Duke in the 2nd round. That's also the year I fell in love with the Gophers. I loved watching Bobby Jackson. Also had an epic title game, which I was allowed to stay up til and watch the end of it. I'll never forget Packer saying, "Simon says Championship"

2002 - I don't think I've ever been so thrilled by a team losing than I was when Duke lost to IU in the S16.

2005 - The elite 8 that year was just insane. Illinois/Zona, WVU/L'Ville and MSU/UK all were amazing games. Also, WVU/Wake had a fabulous 2nd round game. The Championship game that year was incredible as well.

2008 - Having all #1 seeds make the Final Four is cause for a memorable tournament.

Some of my favorite moments of all time are:
Valpo winning at the buzzer.
Hampton over Iowa State in 2001.
IU over Duke in 2002.
Drew Nicholas' buzzer beater over UNC-Wilmington.

I'm sure there are others but those are off the top of my head.

1976. Arguably Bama's best b-ball team ever. Lost to undefeated and eventual champion Indiana by 5 points. Their closest game of the tournament.

2000 since MSU won it all, luckily it was also the first tournament I remember watching as a 7 year old kid, I followed MSU religiously that year. 2009 was great too, UNC destroyed us in the title game but I loved that team. I went to the FF game against UConn that year, best basketball moment of my life seeing us win.

Even though MSU got knocked out first round by George Mason I loved the 2006 tourney UNTIL the Final Four. Every Final Four game that year was a total dud. The George Mason run was the first real Cinderella run in my years of watching the Tourney. It was also the first year my friends and I all did a bracket pool, we were in 8th grade and a couple of teachers almost ratted on us for gambling in school.

Gotta be 1983 - NC State over Houston
1985 wasn't bad - 3 Big East teams w/ Nova over Gtown
2003 - No one could stop The Cuse & Carmello Anthony

But I'm especially fond of 1980, 1986 & 2013

97', first team to knock off three #1 seeds in the same tourney. SIMON SAYS CHAMPIONSHIP.

Valpo's buzzer beater over Ole Miss was awesome, as was Florida Gulf Coast's upset over Georgetown & George Mason's miracle run to the Final Four.

Don't overlook last year as one of the greatest tourney's of all-time either… the second (first) round & round of 32 were insane and there were other great games as well.

Hahaha, I still sometimes think of even just the name, God Shamgod!

97 was memorable for me for obvious reasons, but still, a team knocking off 3 #1 seeds is just insane to me to conceive of now.

I also have to put up there 2001, because I made the drive from Tucson to Minny to go to the FF.

It was great seeing MD/Duke and AZ/MSU. And then all of the MD fans switched to AZ fans for the NC game. GAWD I wish we won that one.

Why you bringing up old shit!?!?!?!?

Hahaha, just playing. But seriously, this is on all accounts probably the worst loss in AZ history for many of us.

I was at that one too...we saw this dunk...remember how the stadium shook?

We handed out about 20,000 samples of my little green MSU collegiate fan flags before the UCONN game...was pretty cool seeing them being waved all over the stadium. Didja get one?

my favorite madness was 1979, when EJ and Special K put college basketball on the map in the most watched tourney game of all time beating Larry Bird...most satisfying dance moment was MSU's opening tip-off slam dunk on #1 seed Notre Dame in the 1979 E8 game.
