He played one season bro. So far he appears to be 'good' but there's plenty of ILBs I'd take over him and that's just the LBer position. I could easily list 50 defensive players (not going to mind you) that are better than him. He's like the 5th best defensive player on the Bills had he stuck around.

Yah he's decent at coverage, but when you have the most ridiculous front 4 in the league rushing QBs, it makes it a bit easier. He'll tank in Philly.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that comment was a little off...I'm not going to say he is going to tank in Philly, but I've never seen a guy with so little experience and coming off a major injury get so much better just by getting traded...

Chip Kelly is a fucking genius. Sure McCoy was 3rd in rushing yards, but of the 17 players that had 200 carries only 4 averages less ypc. He had the 2nd most carries in the league, which was why he had so many yards. His 5 TD's was good for tied for 23rd, he only caught 28 passes last year. For comparison if you gave Justin Forsett 312 carries he gets 1684 yards, Jeremy Hill gets 1591, etc. Hell CJ2K averaged more ypc than McCoy. He will be 27 when the season starts and RB's don't take long to go downhill after that. They also shed what 12 mil a year? This was an amazing trade by Kelly.

I think it was a good trade also. Should allow them to improve else where. Still Chip will need to find someone who can replace McCoy yards yearly. You got to think that McCoy could do better then last year if stayed with the team. So finding a decent replacement is the key. We got no idea if Chip can do that, then you got all the SportsHoopla about him trading up for a QB of his choice....we shall see how this plays out. Good stuff.

So I just got to wondering why Kelly is getting the third degree for trading his stud RB, yet you hear hardly a word about the team they will battling for the division , the Cowboys, letting their stud RB just walk away. At least the Eagles got a player that be of use and some cap relief that will allow them to address other areas of need.

Any thoughts about this?

If Dallas had Philly's cap room Murray would already be signed. Plus how many more years of those big cap hits does McCoy have? If Murray would sign for two years Dallas would definitely throw big $s at him. I still think Dallas is the favorite for Murray, but maybe I'm hoping more than being logical

Give them Duke Johnson in the 3rd. He is essentially McCoy, but much cheaper and will hit the hole.

It really about the cap in both cases IMO.

Well the question is...will Chip trade away his draft choices for a QB he wants?

I think he gives up Foles, their first and maybe next years 1st and maybe not even that much.

To get what? That's not getting them Mariotta unless he drops

This isn't going to be an RGIII type deal. It won't be. This draft isn't that draft, Mariota isn't as hyped a prospect as RGIII was. I think that gets them the 6th pick if he drops to there.

If this backfires on Whaley after already giving up a 4th not long ago for another RB in Bryce Brown, he is going to get run out of Buffalo really fast. 9-7 might look decent after being so bad for so long, but the fans are going to want more eventually.

Watkins trade: Win now move

Trade Alonso for McCoy: Win now move

Trading a 4th for a RB: Win now move

Buffalo MUST win or face hell, or at least the FO. I tend to think Rex is safe, and will survive a good amount of time even if the FO gets canned in a doomsday scenario. If the poor guy could just get a QB worth a box of rocks...

Yea. 1300 yard backs are easy to replace. :L

Maybe it's just Larry 2.7 Johnson remorse on my part, but I 100% see where Philly is coming from watching a bit of their O-line. That, and some numbers to back up what I am seeing.

Would Ray Rice fit the style of back that Chip utilizes in his system? If so, he could probably sign him if he doesn't find what he needs. And, at a reasonable price.

You can't deny McCoy is a great back. He had a down year rushing for 1300 yards. There are numbers to support either argument. You like the trade for Pholly and I like it for Buffalo.

I certainly believe there is minimal risk for Philly. I would be delusional to say McCoy is simply incapable of averaging 5.1 YPC again like in 2013. This could still work out very well for both sides. I definitely prefer Philly's position here, however, I will say that.

I am a huge Coleman fan out of Indiana, would love to see Philly grab him, imo. Or any RB needy team not named San Diego.

Jets aren't trading the pick. The Eagles might have to give up a lot because picks 3 4 and 5 have a young QB and they will want the other positions which this draft is deep in.

I like Coleman as well. He is probibly a second day pick. I wouldn't mind seeing the Cards take a run at him if he drops far enough.

Because it was him or Dez they chose Dez. Also just because he wasn't tagged doesn't mean they can't resign Murray.

Few backs reach 1,300 yards these days because few teams employ lead backs anymore--most have running back by committee setups--and because most teams pass a lot.

But most of those who do average much more than the 4 yards per carry McCoy had last season. McCoy's numbers last season, as numerous stat geeks have pointed out, bear the classic signs of a RB about to go off that downward slope that backs hit around age 27 (he turns 27 this year).

This analysis is particularly interesting: backs that get over 300 carries, like McCoy did in 2013, and subsequently get another 300 carries and see their YPC drop more than half a yard, like McCoy's did--well, let's just say the history of this in the NFL is not kind. It's littered with names such as Chris Johnson and Shaun Alexander--guys that were elite, and in a flash, had the wheels fall off. This is what happens to NFL running backs. To ignore that and say "OMG Lesean McCoy look at his jukes" is basically ignoring all past experience in pro football. There are exceptions, like Adrian Peterson and a few others, but that is what they are, exceptions to the rule.

Washington was in the top 5 and barely needed to move up. That is a HUGE difference. I don't see any way they get Mariotta with that package.
