This could cause more action that a MidnightAngel retraction thread...Here goes nothin`

Why will it be good for the NFL and the fans of it's game if Seattle wins back to back?

The Seahawk's are new to this defending Super Bowl Champs stuff. As a devoted fan since 1978 it is new to me too.
You guys were right about so many things...
With relevancy comes hatred (sports hatred). Sho nuf.
We are going to get everybody's best game. That happened.
We will get our players robbed away in FA. Yes, I think we lost something like 11 players.
SB hangover. It happened, but I think that manifest itself in many different ways. For us it was Percy, locker room arguments, speculations on Marshawn and Russell, ect.
and...
you were wrong on a couple...
No way can we sign our best players.
No way will we be back for SB49.

Yet, here we are with one game to go.

Being new to the defending champs thing, it took me a while to understand and get good with the being hated part. Often, it still bugs me but I have learned to realize it is respect, fear, envy, jealousy and a few other traits all rolled together. So it IS PART of the deal, the deal of winning.
That is why it will be great for the NFL and it's fans if Seattle wins. The sports world needs something that disgusts them and we are a perfect target. Our fan base fits the mold necessary for such contempt. We have earned your bitterness and yearn for more, just as you need someone/something to direct your venom towards. You need that.
It will be great for the NFL/fans to wonder, is it possible to build a dynasty (TIME TO POINT OUT THAT I AM NOT YET CALLING THE SEAHAWKS A DYNASTY-AS MUCH AS YOU WILL TRY TO TWIST WORDS I AM NOT SAYING THAT) with all of the placements that have been installed to thwart off that from happening. Every fan will begin to realize that if the right sequence of events occur, a dynasty is possible, yet incredibly rare. As it should be.
A Seahawk back to back will make the GM's of other teams better. It will focus owners on requiring better choices in the FO. It will show that as long as your team can reload, losing in FA helps the cap, keeps your team young, which can help with injuries. This ultimately benefits fans of those team that get better.
So a Seahawk victory will be good for everyone involved.
It will break old myths.
It will make coaches and FO personnel more accountable to their owners and fans.
And it will be good for you. You need someone to (sports) hate...and we are the best target of all 32 teams.

Therefore, for all of us...
Go Seahawks

I can just see Seahawk fans here....:L Damn, why did Uh have to write that.

Especially with the latest Patriot cheating drama, I don't think its a bad thing if Seattle wins. Something I have been thinking about is if winning back to back SBs in todays NFL would be the fastest way to dismantle a team since it raises each players stock, making it harder to keep the team intact. No question its worth winning but it's something I am curious about.

I cannot imagine the amount of posts regarding the Patriots if they win. Hammerdown will need to hire a entire fleet of hamsters to keep the site running..

Just in general, people want to crucify anyone for anything. If the Pats win, the hate will just multiply.

The Seahawks have already changed the league due to the way they evaluate talent. The next Sherman and Wilson will all go top 40 and the next Irvin will be seen as a 1st rounder.

One of the legacies here is the rookie QB contract. The real challenge for Seattle wasn't this year. Most people thought they'd be a top 4 team even with all of the distractions. The real challenge is keeping the same type of talent together after Wilson gets paid.

It would be best for the NFL if they just cancel the game. Picking a team to root for in this game is like deciding whether you'd prefer to have Jeffrey Dahmer or John Wayne Gacy babysit your kids.

Similar to Flacco and the Ravens I assume.

Yes. The rebuilding job the Ravens did to stay a top 5 team after Lewis and Reed is actually kinda scary.

I agree. I still don't know how the hell they did it but I was hoping for at least a few years of suffering with the Steelers being down like they are. Admirable job in Baltimore no question.

Keeping everyone...yeah sure, but Seattle has already resigned Chancellor, Thomas, Sherman, Avril, Bennett, Wright, Baldwin. It's known they'll resign Wilson and Wagner. The point is you have to Draft talent, then resign it. Let a few guys go (Tate, let older vets go, bryant and clemons)

Lynch will be a factor in it all too. Drafting the right talent isn't an easy task either. I am not saying it will go either way. I am just curious how they handle it. We haven't seen a b2b SB winner in awhile.

Easier said then done. Especially on the 'draft talent' end to keep up with the attrition of the league. Who is the best player drafted the past 2 years by Seattle? Luke Wilson? It might catch up to them.

They should cancel the season.

No need to do that, but since Pete Carroll also has a history of cheating I think the obvious solution is to replay the last 4 minutes of both conference championship games.
