This is dumb.

Anyone who watched the game especially the first half showed that FSU belong there. Not going to win many games when you turn the ball over 4 times in a quarter.

Blowouts are going to happen in this system just like it did in the BCS

2 of the 3 games were blowouts.

Committee is overthinking this big time

no, it's not a case study to move forward... this article is pure conjecture.

yeah i agree with you but its still a subject up for debate. take a team like baylor who doesn't play anyone decent in non conference play. they also currently don't have any power 5 team schedule for the next several years. if undefeated do they get in no matter what or does who they play get questioned?

pause. Baylor still plays a P5 sched... yes, no one good OOC,... but it's still a P5 sched. let's not get it in our heads that OOC is everything.. in fact... it's the lesser thing.

true going forward i think every team should have atleast one P5 out of conference opponent. Alabama plays USC in 2016. doesn't seem a fair shake for baylor to make playoff potentially with rice or SMU (toss up) being the toughest non conference opponent

Pat Forde had that article written for months. He has a hard on for FSU. His article right after the RB was on how Winston dug FSU into a hole that he could not dig them out of. PF is a douche.

Case study should conclude we need an 8 team playoff. FSU deserved to be there you just can't leave out an undefeated power 5 school.

Exactly, unless there are four other undefeated power 5 schools and that is extremely unlikely...

We played a bad game. It happens. We were down 5 points at the half I believe and we were driving to take the lead with the 1st possession in the 3rd quarter when the Cook fumble occurred. The rest, as they say, is history.

Anyway, I can see 8 teams with the 5 conference champs, the best non-Power 5 team and two wildcards. That's how I'd do this.

Florida State fell apart with ridiculous turnovers

They clearly deserved to be in the game. They can beat Oregon.
They showed for the entire first half that they could move the ball and play with Oregon

5 TURNOVERS in one quarter can make any game a lopsided game.
Turnovers are often flukey bounces and wild momentum swings.

sadly most of the turnovers were after big positive plays at the end of runs

I think the ACC will often get left out, unless they have an undefeated team. Nobody really thought FSU was one of the 4 best teams in the country, but you can't leave them out if they're an undefeated P5 team.

The combined College Football Playoff margins of victory by Ohio State over Oregon and Oregon over Florida State make clear which team did not belong in the sport’s first Final Four. And that team is the Seminoles. They were routed by a team that then was routed in its next game.

This reads like a 5th grader wrote it. Well they lost by this much to a team that lost by this much...so they would have lost by THIS much!

There is no excuse for programs to schedule only patsies in their OOC. All you need is 1 decent OOC opponent. tOSU has done this for years, they schedule 1 decent OOC (see VT this year) and fill up the rest of their schedule with MAC opponents and/or an armed forces squad. That's all you need.

Most schools do a decent job of this already. Of the top teams this season I think only Baylor and Miss St had completely garbage OOC games. TCU's ended up being surprisingly decent when Minny did well this season.

If you have plans on getting into the CFP, schedule 1 premier OOC opponent each year. 1 loss won't knock you out of the running, especially if its an early season loss. 3 of the 4 CFP reps got in this year with 1 loss.

Agree. If they are going to even consider leaving the only undefeated P5 team out of their top four, no matter how overrated they are preceived to be, the system has failed...

It's easy to look back, but Jimbo obviously fucked-up in several ways. You can name your own ways.

Florida State pooped all over themselves
the game was 25-20 then for some reason they had a team meeting on the sidelines and decided it would be cool to start turning the ball over a lot

You can't punish Florida State in 2015, if they are undefeated, for brainfarting the Rose Bowl away
