Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft are listed as possible witnesses by prosecutors in the upcoming murder trial of former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez. In a motion released Monday, Hernandez’s lawyers asked a judge to order prosecutors to pare their list of more than 300 witnesses. Hernandez is charged in the 2013 killing of semi-professional football player Odin Lloyd, whose body was found in an industrial park about a mile from Hernandez’s home in North Attleborough.

Could you imagine Belichick sitting in the witness box?

Well he has spent his entire life pretty much on the stand in front of reporters so I think he would be prepared. Would be interesting to see if he actually did more than just say short answers to all questions. That case is going to get interesting.

He'll be prepared but will his lips move? :noidea:

This trial is going to be one that people will stay home from work to watch.

The prosecution is creating a shitstorm and literally making themselves look foolish. Last week they sent 30 Mass. State Police to Hernandez's house to find a pair of sneakers that matched the sneaker prints at the industrial park where Lloyds body was found. After six hours the police left and every officer left empty handed. No sneakers matching the industrial park were found. How many pairs of sneakers were in the house? More than 100.

Two of the prosecution's main witnesses have recanted their testimony. Hernandez's cousin is dying from cancer and she'd make a great witness sitting in chair being harassed by the prosecution.

Court still hasn't made their ruling on a change of venue.

Defense on this easy....where's the gun? Anyone see the defendant actually shoot anyone? Got actual proof defendant was even at the industrial site on the night Lloyd was killed? Anything more than circumstantial evidence? Kind of reminds me of the OJ Simpson trial...........

Interesting. Reads to me as if you're at least somewhat hoping that Hernandez is found not guilty. Is that right?

"Mr. Belichick, did you ever been aware of the defendant carrying a firearm and are you aware of any evidence that might suggest that the defendant was complicit in a double homicide in Boston in 2010?"

"Um...we're moving on to Odin Lloyd."

I'm not reading it that way. He's stating what I believe are facts from what we have available to us via the media. The prosecution has an uphill battle. I do not doubt he's guilty. It just doesn't appear from the outside looking in though that the prosecution has a good case.

I just wonder how much we or the media have any clue what the prosecution has in this case...I mean from what I have read they have over 300 people on their list of people to put on the stand. Now that could be just a way of trying to scare the defense or it could be they just have that much from so many different angles to show how guilty he is. So like I said should be an interesting case.

I'm sure between Aaron's $$$$.....what's left of it,.......and the Latin-kings ready to rub-out any witnesses if they "talk", there's no airtight conviction here,.......don't fret, the civil- trial will prevail.

He'd do well to shed the dark lord persona in front of the judge and just answer the questions. Contempt of court sucks!

Perhaps you are right that BigKen's post merely addresses the legal difficulties that the prosecution faces. You do realize, of course, that I left open that possibility in my previous post by asking (and not accusing) BigKen whether he hopes that Hernandez is found not guilty.

I am admittedly not particularly knowledgeable of criminal law. Given what I have read, however, there seems to be a compelling body of evidence against Hernandez. At the same time, I also understand that a good legal defense sometimes prevails, even if the defendant is clearly guilty.

I honestly don't care one way or the other if he's found guilty or not. I don't have any emotional investment in the case.

I'm a lover or the judicial system of the United States. When the prosecution has a case and they blow it, then my emotions come into play. The prosecution's closing argument in the O'J' Simpson case was at best, horrendous. The Florida prosecution in the Lacey case was pathetic.

Massachusetts has historically presented horrible prosecution in cases that the media was putting on the front page. They almost blew the Whitey Bulger case by bringing in the guys who carried out most of murders they were trying to pin on him. They let Kevin Weeks off on all associated murders so he could testify against Bulger. He admitted to 21 murders on the stand and never implicated Bulger. Bulger was convicted of several charges and got 28 years. He's 78...... Too often the Mass. AG tries to get the media to report everything as if it's fact, but because of the history, they research everything looking for a foopah and generally they find it. Most other states say nothing, leak nothing, investigate in secrecy and drop their bombshells in court. In Mass., they light the fuse, let everyone watch the explosion and hope the fireworks display was so convincing that no one forgets it several months later. Too often, the defense lights off a few of their own.....only they wait until the perfect moment and the jury just can't let go of the brilliance.........."If it don't fit, you must acquit".

I hope he is found guilty if he is guilty.
I hope he is found not guilty if he is not guilty.
Too simple for sports figures?????

I think he's guilty on all counts but the prosecution doesn't seem to have good enough evidence. I don't recall what they are trying him on. If it's first degree murder then circumstantial is not going to win the case for the prosecution and most evidence I've read about is circumstantial. They probably have enough for a lower offense. It will just be priceless if BB takes the stand. The ratings will be off the charts.
