Just a couple of points:

1. When Tennessee, Georgia and Florida were the powers in the east we played Georgia and Florida every year anyway so honestly Auburn had the toughest SEC schedule for years after the division split. Georgia didn't have to play LSU and Alabama every year during that time.

2. There is not a Georgia fan on the planet that wouldn't trade records with Auburn and take the undefeated seasons in 1993, 2004, 2010 and play for a national title in 2013.

The fact is Auburn's record compares nicely with anyone in the country since the Dye era that started in 1981. I'll concede that Alabama's recent success surpasses what we have achieved but you would be hard pressed to find anyone else that does. You can find teams that have had more consist winning seasons but I'll take the down years if it gives me the magical seasons we have been able to put together.

We have been in the national title hunt several times each decade and that trend looks to continue so if you want to "pretend" that Auburn hasn't gotten it done over the last 40 years go for it but you're not being honest with yourself. The fact is Georgia hasn't been able to get the job done since 1980 and until you do this conversation is kinda pointless because there are no participation trophies at this level.

Come on now... this dominant decade that Alabama has had? It's produced 50% less conference championships than Auburn. And a 4-6 mark against Auburn. :suds:

What Saban has done is impressive by any standard they got some breaks that if reversed we wouldn't have gotten but they earned what they got on the field. I don't have to take anything away from Alabama to be proud of what we have achieved.

I'm not taking anything away from Alabama either. Jake Holland still has twice as many SEC titles where he saw playing time as AJ McCarron though.

Well Alabama does have a NC without winning their conference. I bet Auburn can't say that!

it has been over 30 years since georgia has sniffed a national championship or national championship game. and you think beating clemson means you've turned the corner.
What happened to basing conclusions on 2014 results?

And all this talk about not "sniffing a NC"

5 yards and a few seconds and they have a NC

When was the last time they made it to a national title game?

the only 2014 result georgia has is a 24 point win at home. same as auburn.

giving georgia credit for beating clemson because they are good is not based on anything tangible as related to the 2014 season. when clemson beats a few teams that go on to win 8-10 games, then your win will matter.

Then why does it matter what Georgia has or has not sniffed in 30 years?

Who was the last team to win a national title after having not even been in a national title game in over 30 years? I'm sure there are some, but it has to be pretty rare.

I think UGA has all the tools to do it this year, but couldn't the same have been said about most their teams since the Matthew Stafford years? Yet they literally haven't even been ranked high enough to make it to the national title game. (I'm assuming that is what is meant by the "not even sniffed it" comment)
