It was reported they wanted Guerrero. No mention of Franklin in that deal.

It was hypothetical with the guy I was talking to.

He was arguing that Franklin is so valuabe, we wouldn't take Byrd for him straight up.

Quite frankly..... Good. I dont want Price,

All else fails go get Milone.

I'm good with getting Milone.

Also good with getting Price because of his trade value after this season, but I just don't think it will happen.

If they get Price they wont trade him in the off season. They will roll the dice again with him next year. Then dump him at the deadline if we aren't in contention for the WC. With the second WC spot theres really only a hand full of teams not in contention, so they will most likely not trade him, and then he will walk and sign with Atlanta.

Having him in the rotation isn't a bad thing and trading him anytime could yield something good.

I love the idea of trying to acquire Price if and only if they commit to addressing the OF and offense problems in the offseason.

I guess that's a lot of ifs, though. :)

Looks unlikely Price is going to happen anyway, so whatever.

In addition, Steven Souza of the Washington Nationals organization is a minor league player to keep an eye on. Souza is blocked at the major league level by Washington’s outfield logjam and could net the Nationals a pretty decent return as a sell-high candidate.
Souza has hit .362/.439/.606 at Triple-A Syracuse this season. He’s powerful at 6’5’’ 225 pounds, but he also has stolen 21 bases and offers athleticism in the outfield.

Washington might consider using Souza as an asset to trade for a young shortstop.

Ken Rosenthal of FoxSports.com reports that Washington is looking for a young shortstop at the trade deadline to take over should Ian Desmond leave in free agency after the 2015 season, which the Mariners could provide.
The Mariners need a proven major league bat at the deadline, but they also might be tempted to look to other options for depth in a thin market.

-----------------

I wouldn't be against trying for a MLB ready prospect if it is the right one. It would be a gamble that they could help now, but considering the other names available it might be worth the risk.

Interesting. With the inflated numbers in the PCL constantly fooling people into thinking the M's young hitters are ready, I wonder how that league plays for offense.

If it would cost Chris Taylor and maybe a young pitching prospect I'd take the chance on this guy.

Me too and they also have a relief pitcher that could be a #4 SP for most teams in Detwiler. Package deal.

Another guy we should go all in on is Bumgarner for Giants. He can pitch every 5th game and DH the other 4 games. He is hitting .267, 3 HR's, 12 RBI's. He solves our #3 spot in the rotation and DH spot all in one trade.

Jon Heyman just released this article where he discusses the 3 most likely destinations (Seattle, St. Louis, or LA) for a Price trade.

Here's what he said about the M's. Nothing new, really, but things are getting interesting since the Rays have won 7 in a row.

1. Mariners: There's a lot of pressure on GM Jack Zduriencik to do something bold because Seattle's two chief rivals, the A's and Angels, not only have started to pull away but also made impact deals this month. Oakland added Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel in a blockbuster deal with the Cubs and the Angels imported Huston Street, Jason Grilli and Joe Thatcher to fortify their bullpen.

Offense is obviously Seattle's key area of need with a league-low OPS .687 (yes, the Mariners are dead last, despite being in the playoff hunt). The Mariners need a hitter (or two) but appear to be having difficulty finding the right lineup-boosting player in a very thin hitting market. So perhaps it wouldn't hurt to instead try to form the AL's best rotation.

Price hasn't seemed anxious to uproot for the 3,000-plus-mile move to Seattle, but as he's said, he's a pro and would deal with whatever team came calling. The Mariners have top pitching prospect Taijuan Walker, an athletic, hard-throwing right-hander who very likely will be a star. But Price is their chance to form a daunting playoff rotation the rest of this season and next, with underrated star Hisashi Iwakuma slotting behind King Felix and Price. My verdict on trading Walker (and others) for Price: Thumbs up.

Is David Price the right trade piece for Mariners, Cards or Dodgers? - CBSSports.com

As I've said before, I'm 100% in favor of getting Price as long as Z addresses the most pressing needs of the team (offense/outfield) in the offseason.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Mariners have asked the Rockies about Drew Stubbs.

But Morosi says the Rockies are unsure whether they're going to move the 29-year-old outfielder, who has a career-best .833 OPS with 10 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 82 games this season. Much of that production can be credited to Coors Field, and Colorado would be wise to sell high on the .245/.313/.392 career hitter. But the Rockies front office has always operated in mysterious ways.

Ya, I read it earlier. Only if Rosenthal was Miami's GM. One stud is worth 5 prospects in my book. Especially M's prospects...except Peterson. I just wouldn't trade him unless push came to shove.

According to MLBTR we made an official offer for Drew Stubbs recently yet the Rockies are not really looking to move him.

I hope this isn't plan A because I think Coors Field has a big part in this being his best season so far.
