What a damn series. Welcome to hockey fandom Columbus. It's the best/worst thing ever.

That's not really fair. This team sold out for most of their first 3 years and has had a solid base of fans despite having almost NOTHING to cheer for a decade.

FUCK, I LOVE THIS TEAM AND THIS CITY!

And, for the record, when I see the name "Vitale" I think "Dick". Good going, Dick.

I think she's referring to them being in the playoffs and actually winning a game(s).

Sutter being on the bench and doing the handshake is by far the best news possible. Thinking he was being held out due to score, but once it got tenuous they let him go.

Aren't you just a little ray of sunshine.

I wish I could be happier. I really do but how do they end a series on their ass like that? I am not confident in this team. I hope for the best but good teams don't play like this.

They've had a solid fanbase, I agree...but now the CITY is into it. It takes a great team to really unite a city to a club/sport (hello Pirates). You can have a solid fanbase, but this squad awoke a city hungry for excitement.

Not to mention selling out an ECHL team for two decades and half filling the other 19k seat arena in town for college hockey...

Good job Pens. The Blue Jackets have a bright future ahead of them.

You, along with a large portion of this fanbase (myself included at times), should try stepping back and enjoying having a solid team. Only half the teams get to enjoy the postseason, and only 8 get to enjoy the second round. The NHL is parity rich, winning a series is very tough, that team we played WAS VERY GOOD AT HOCKEY. They were big, they were motivated, and they had a rabid home arena. Winning this in 6 is an accomplishment.

They do. I laughed at the idea that Pittsburgh was "lucking out" with drawing C-bus in the first round. They have a damn good team, and don't deserve the underestimation that they received by some.

My point was not at all that they don't have fans. I've been to a game in Columbus, they're there. They have probably the best arena setup in the league (the arena district should be replicated everywhere), and as you've noted, they've got a burgeoning young crop of youth hockey players. What takes a fanbase/team/city to the next level is having a successful team. It's having an underdog take a favorite to the brink, it's coming back from 3 goal deficits at home. The city needed this series. That was my point. This series made lifelong fans, I guarantee it.

I get what you meant. Just perhaps not the best choice of words. There are some here who will love to piggyback on it taking it the other way, and that would really harsh my high right now.

You are forgiven. Say three hail Marios and all will be forgotten. :D

Sid and Neal could get going. Malkin came alive. There is so much talent to write off the Pens just yet, They aren't playing to their potential and hats off to Columbus for keeping it that way.

I take nothing away from CBJs. They are a good team with a great future for sure. I just don't agree the Pens are solid. If they would play to potential like they did 5 of the last 6 periods, I wouldn't be so frustrated. It is not ok that they played the series clinching period on their heels. That is a very bad sign in my eyes.

I cant totally write them off simply because of their talent. They need to get things figured out fast to have a real chance to go any further though.
