Self-proclaimed Asshole
Drinking Sam Adams escape route. It's a traditional Koelsch style that's very nice.
That looks delicious.
Homebrew, and you won't have to buy "rich and cultured" beer.
I wouldn't even know where to start. Is it more cost effective?
It is once you start making "good" beer. There are a lot of homebrewers on this forum actually. Plenty of ways to get advice.
After you have your equipment, you're looking at about 30-50 bucks for 50 beers (5 gallons). The cost largely depends on what style and abv you are making.
I'd probably tend more towards lighter styles like lagers, Koelsch, pilsners, and blonde ales. Although I'd love to home brew a traditional Marzen style beer.
Lagering requires more expensive equipment. you should be good with the kolsch and blonde ales though. A lot of homebrewers make those styles. Personally, I'm not a huge fan. I like bigger beers.
A combination of Yuenglling Chesterfield Ale (in the bottle) and Yuenging Lager (in the can). The ale's pretty damn good for the price. The lager is very good for the price.
