An average QB would be ok in Seattle with that defense and running game.

Of course you wouldn't trade him for Cutler. Money & team style dictate that decision. But that doesn't mean he is much better than him.

Between the ears he is. Wilson plays smart every week, cant say the same for Cutler.

Whather you want to admit it or not, Wilson's success stems from the team not needing him to carry it. The Seahawks are a run team first with the best defense in the league. That masks a lot of deficiencies & also makes a QB look better than he is. If you ask him to throw 35+ times a game while sitting in a pocket, his numbers would drastically different. His success is a product of his legs & his team.

Then maybe the Bears should run the ball a bit more? The Bears don't need to throw the ball 30+ times a game.

When Wilson throws the ball 30+ a game:
8 games: 174-267 65% Comp% 2164 yards 13 TD 5 INT

I included a 2012 playoff game against the Falcons.

He has no problem when throwing the ball 30+ times a game.

Ok...tell me more about your QB woes from the 60's...that will be totally relevant to the discussion at hand.

Don't have to go back that far, your exact quote was "most packer fans don't remember the last time they had a shitty QB". I guarantee the majority of packer fans remember randall wright from the 86 and 87 seasons..

Ok. But would they win more games than any QB in history over their first two years?

This is still about his height, whether you guys want to admit that or not. You all are still victims of preconceived notions and not paying attention to what is really happening.

Where did you read where I said great defenses? I said good defenses that can stop the run.

Wilson has had some great games when défenses have taken away the run.

With Tarvaris Jackson the Seahawks went 7-9 in 2011. After adding Russell Wilson the Seahawks immediately improved to 11-5.

The Seahawks have a great defense and running game but without a player like Wilson we are not the dominant team we are. Our offensive line is pathetic and our WRs are mediocre. Wilson is the key to this team winning. He plays the most important position and he helps us win.

It's easy to "play smart" when you have the #1 defense in the league on your side. There is no reason to take chance & not make the simple plays. But when you are on a team with one of the worst defenses in the league, you are not afforded that choice too often.

:L

I think yer missing the point.

Let me put this in perspective. You have to go back 25 years to find a shitty QB.

I have to go back 25 years to find a GOOD QB.

See how that could alter yer view a little, when it comes to the Bears current QB situation?

Next thing you will tell me is that Alex Smith is a great QB

He's not. But I'd take him over Cutler. He has a better record and turns the ball over a lot less. I think Alex Smith is league average, just like Cutler. Smith is less injury prone too.

I didn't know that Russell Wilson played on defense.

Thanks for sharing that piece of wisdom with me.

The DEFENSE factor would possibly eliminate your argument on Wins and play-off appearances.

BTW, 25 years, in terms of a football time, may as well be a lifetime.

Have you seen our offensive line? Have you seen our WRs? Going into the season the Seahawks believed that their #1 and #2 would be Sidney Rice and Percy Harvin. Technically the Seahawks are playing with their #3 and #4 as our starters.

Take WRs who struggle to get separation, add an offensive line that cannot pass block worth a damn and it is not a good combo. Russell Wilson has succeeded despite having mediocre WRs and a poor offensive line.

Wilson has the #1 defense in the NFL but that does not change the fact that he is a much better QB than Jay Cutler.

You're right. But making bad decisions makes it even harder for that poor defense.

You can play what if all you want. Wilson still has the most wins in his first two years in NFL history and Jay Cutler is yet to beat a winning team in the playoffs.

Kinda like Jay leading the 2010 Bears to the NFC Championship game, with the exact same situation you described?

With that defense and assuming it's their first two years? Absolutely.

Can good or great QBs even exist on run-first/defensive teams? Or would these arguments against them always exist, regardless of who they are?

Why don't you stop back pedaling you might fall. I'm not taking issue with any of your "revised" statements you've back tracked to. I'm talking about your original quote that MOST packer fans couldn't remember their last bad qb. Might just admit your original quote was fucking stupid..
