The convention had been that game threads were for talk during the game.
Maybe we need official "pre-game" threads for all the trolling leading up to the game.
People like to feel popular on message boards and threads with alot of posts give them a sense of self worth
Why not just start the game threads Monday and talk about the game all week? Why do we need a separate in-game thread for discussion during the game?

That term "gameday" thread always did cornfuse me
I think it makes it easier to pop in and out of threads on game day to check the action and current discussion. When you're following 4-5 games at once and want a quick update you don't have to navigate through days-old talk to find it. You know that the first page is going to give you the early info, and so on. When you're following all the games, efficiency is important.
The green prefix was a big help, making it easier to find game threads quickly, but now that advantage is wiped out because you have to surf through the thread. Clicking at the end and going backwards still takes time, which sucks when you've just got a commercial break from one game to catch up on the talk in another. Plus, sometimes you don't want to get the latest comments, you want to follow the flow until you catch up to them, which means more surfing to find where the game actually started.
It's just not as efficient on game day.

I like having the game threads early, it lets us talk some shit for a while.
I honestly don't see a problem with starting a game thread a few days to a week early.
