No I meant rush the field after the auburn game 2010, I was just fucking with you about the guy stomping the game cock fan, no telling what was said.

I was at that game and I have been to around 100 Bama games, I have never been at a game where I thought about rushing the field. It's just not what we do.

I recall UNA fans rushing the field after winning their first national championship in '93. Can't recall if they did so in '94 or '95 though.

Was at two of those games, but I didn't rush the field with those fans - just left in a really good mood.

was 1972, Duffy Daugherty's last year...#4 Ohio State lost (their only regular season loss) at Michigan State 12-19...it was quite unexpected...we were about 10 rows off the field...my mom joined the rushing crowd...we found her 5 minutes later, giggling like a little girl, happy as a lark - said the falling field goal post almost hit her. I think about that every time some giddy crowd rushes the field (or floor)...and smile.

I actually did in 1956, believe it or not, in Syracuse NY at old Archibold Stadium. We were going to try and steal Jim Brown's helmet. It wasn't until we got on the field and realized how much bigger than us the players were, that we ran the other way as fast as we could.

I dunno what the big deal is. Their field. They can rush if they want to.

The real question should be:

why are so many people butt hurt because someone rushed the field?

You remind me of a Yankee fan that is too cool to really enjoy a moment in time when sports is so awesome rushing the field simply makes sense. I really feel for you, not that you will care. I've been to events where weer that jazzed. Much suck that you are so good that you just can't get excited about winning.

This, and why do Bama and Texas fans think that something like that is beneath them?

Alright, last time ....

We DO NOT "rush" the field. It's actually called "Gathering at the Paw." It is a Clemson tradition. We do this at EVERY game. EVERY GAME! Win or lose, we do this. EVERY game. It's not a matter of it being a big win. It IS a tradition. Every game. I can understand your lack of understanding since you're not allowed and if you do, you have to bulldoze your way through security or whatever. At Clemson, however, it is allowed and encouraged.

We grew up with this tradition. I am 42 and there was no bigger thrill when I was 7,8,9 years old than to be able to meet a player or get a picture with him or actually stand on the same field that my heroes had just played on. I have a 5 year old boy now, who got the biggest thrill last year when I took him down there. He couldn't believe he was right there where they played. It was just simple things, like the orange lettering in the endzone, running down the field past the yard markers, standing in the endzone, standing next to a 6'4" beast, HE LOVED IT.. It's something he'll never forget and I didn't either. So talk all the shit you want, it is a special tradition to those of us who have experienced it.

Any sane person would run to their car in south central, especially if it's dark.

 Actually, it's very safe!! Most parking is in the campus parking structures (I park in the same one every time)!!

However, I did run to my car after a game vs. ASU at Sun Devil Stadium!! I went out there to go to a USC/ASU game with a friend who went to ASU!! I had a couple of USC stickers on the window and a bumper sticker that said "Welcome to California!! Now Go Home"!!

After the game, my friend said "We better hurry to your car"!! We got to the car and my USC stickers had been replaced with ASU stickers, plus about 10 more ASU stickers!!

My friend was impressed that I didn't have any flat tires or other damage!!

To answer the original question. No, I never have and I don't think USC fans ever have!! Not sure why other than after wins, the players and band gather in front of the student section while the band plays the fight song!!

Because we expect to win.

And it's a compliment to a team when I don't think they should rush, not a put down.

I think that there is actually merit to this. Looking through the posts, it seems that it's mainly the "traditional powers" that don't do this.

Rushing the field usually happens after a big win which most often seems to be following an upset of a traditional power or over a rival that has been winning the game for several seasons in a row!!

A traditional power isn't usually an underdog so it's hard to justify rushing the field after beating a team that you were supposed to beat!!

Don't count me in on the shit makers ... I love traditions like that. Beats UT and Bama fans that evidently are so used to winning they don't get excited. That would suck. With your pre-game rock shit, and the post game meet at the paw thingy, I almost am beginning to like you guys. Nah, you pud whakers can kiss my ass! :) But you have some cool traditions.

The lawyer in me has to ask ... what is going to happen the first time some kid gets trampled to death. You will kiss your tradition good bye, is my guess. And, unfortunately, it will happen one day.

Where in the world would you get the idea we don't get excited about our wins. Are you saying you are only excited about winning if your rush the field?

It's the general tone that I've felt in these posts from a few Bama and UT fans. The old "act like you've been there line" gets tiresome. Very few college programs have been there, so I think it is great that they do it. I am sure many Bama fans get very excited when they win.
