the hard part to me for SJSU is the coaching change. and yes I realize as an Oregon fan I am one to talk but the difference is Oregon promoted from within. Helfrich so far is looking to continue what Kelly did.
can the same be said for Caragher?

yeah San Jose State didn't promote from within on this one.

It could be a challenge for them.

Utah State is one that hired from within hiring Matt Wells who was their offensive coordinator, Gary Andersen was a defensive minded coach so Utah State's offense will see continuity.

This team, this schedule and the lack proven winners returning...11-2 would be a huge victory. I see two galactic hurdles and two potetial problems.

GALACTIC HURDLES:

BYU -They are going to be tough and hungry.
Fresno State - Ditto

POTENTIAL PROBLEMS:

Utah State - Even with a new coach gonna be tough.
UofW - Shouldn't be as tough as I think it will be, but it will.

I think 2-2 is realistic and 4-0 a huge long shot.

While if the sun, moon and stars perfectly align we could be BCS bound, I'm not betting the mortgage on it.

Well It looks like Utah and BYU are trying to mend the fence and get the series back going again. They want to get games for 2017-18 and in 2018 they are going to see if it can happen at the end of the year. I hope so that's a rivalry Utah shouln't be with out. So after the two years off it will begin in 2016 since they have one game that year. i know this is the MWC thread, but i had to post here since they don't have and Ind thread. Go Utes.

I was surprised when I looked at some future schedules and saw the two of you weren't playing. Good to see you have some of it figured out, hopefully you two will keep playing on a yearly basis.

If BSU gets the win @ UW I say they run the table in the MW

AHHHH YEEEAA

I agree with Pitman. If we beat UW, I think we run the table. I mean, we had an anemic offense last year and we came within a few points of being undefeated. I expect an improved offense, and similarly stingy defense. Formula for success in my estimation.

GO BRONCOS

:hope:

Why? UW at 7-6 is only really about equal to a mid/upper tier team in the MW.

Yes, they were 7 and 6 last year. But like many teams they play well at home, excellent actually. The newly renovated Husky Stadium will be rocking, especially considering the loss to Boise last year in the bowl game. They will be fired up, healthy, and evidently not suspending star players (as in plural) for this one. And take a look at what they did at home last year Oly:

Washington 21
9 and 4 San Diego State 12

Washington 52
Portland State 13

Washington 17
EOY #6, Pac 12 and Rose Bowl champion Stanford 13

Washington 14
USC 24

Washington 20
EOY #19 Oregon State 17

Washington 34
Utah 15

The reasons and results that I have stated above are the very reasons as to why I state that Boise probably has less than a 50% chance of winning this game in my eyes. I do see a close, hard fought battle that will most likely go down to the wire, however.

UW may be a mid-tier PAC12 right now, but the fact that this game is @UW in the new stadium, fans will be pumped. Plus, I'm not convinced that Joe Southwick will be calm enough in that atmosphere to deliver. It may take him 2-3 games to settle in.

If this game was at a neutral or in Boise at the end oc October, we get the W for sure. But because its the first game of the season, a newly renovated and expanded UW stadium, as well as a UW team seeking vengeance... it could spell trouble for Boise.

But on the flip side, Chris Petersen is the master at preparing.

Either way, this game will not be a blowout for either team.

Here's to hoping Southwick has improved like I hope he has, and Jay Ajai (sp? too lazy to look it up) is as good as billed.

Good answers from both B4L and SLC, UW plays tough at home and are wanting to revenge the bowl loss. should be a great game. I'm just saying if we can get the win it will give us the momentum for the rest of the season. It won't be a walk in the park.

welcome sirs!

we have a lot of other tough opponents on the schedule, Washington is the toughest

but BYU is not far behind, they gave us all we could handle last year in a game we won 7-6 at home and our only score was a defensive touchdown. This year we go on the road, they worry me.

Fresno State should be good, but we've had their number lately.

Utah State is tough to predict but they worry me

I like Utah State because of their excellent uniforms and their excellent (looking!) gymnastics team.

Maybe. The ACC made out like bandits, though. We got Pitt & Syracuse, Notre Dame in all but football and Louisville on deck. And we lost Maryland, the B1G can have them.

you guys didn't turn out too badly either, it could have been a whole lot worse. Big 10 won the original round as they grabbed a good program in Nebraska, second time around they brought in some teams who might struggle

Those are tough road games. At San Diego State isn't going to be a walk in the park either. Hell, we couldn't even beat those guys in our own house last year.

they will be tough, but they lost a lot in the passing game, they won't pass the ball very well, and without that they can't take advantage of our biggest weakeness in my opinion which is the secondary, we lost a lot of guys there.

Nothing much in the news for the league this week, but may as well bump for any MWC fans who have joined recently
