well if he still has the locker room.
Get an OC that works. Hopefully he can trust his coordinators & let them do what they do.
I think the best HCs manage their people. Not do their peoples jobs for them.
If he can do that. I think he bounces back (if you guys hire the right coordinators)
In theory, I’m on board. However, if your hire works, he’s going to be a head coach soon and then you’re back to square one and if the next hire isn’t elite it will have a negative impact on the team. If your head coach has the stuff he can mitigate those transitions. This is signing up for a volatile existence and something that Lurie and Roseman should consider.

Additionally, after losing 6 of the last 7 and looking wholly uncompetitive during much of it, who knows is he really does still have the locker room on his side. That being said, media interviews after their exit had every player asked speaking up on behalf of him. Not sure if that was just auto-pilot “support your coach until he’s not your coach” stuff or if they really still buy in. Time will tell.
That is what made Joe Gibbs so great. He was a people person. Knew where to put coaches & players. Then let them do what they do.
He did it in the NFL then went & did it in Nascar.
Put the right people in the right spots to succeed.
Great comparison here. Gibbs is maybe the best example of a CEO type culture guy who let his coaches coach.
If his ego or whatever gets in the way & he starts interfering with the play calling. Then he might become a lame duck.
I think regardless Nick is on a short leash going into next season. We will see how he responds.

Welp.

It looks like Brian Johnson is going to get scapegoated. I don’t know if we will ever get the full story.

Brian Johnson is a crap OC. He got interviews because of the rooney rule and he was a name on people's lists.

The blame at Nick's feet is putting him in the position with a veteran Super Bowl type roster. That was an almost firable mistake for an otherwise heady head coach.

eagles are shit all desperate to even think about ron riveria.
He’s been a solid defensive coordinator in his career and he took Carolina to a Super Bowl. It was foolish to take a job working for the worst franchise in the NFL but I don’t think that should be held against him in consideration of him as a defensive coordinator candidate.

He's had good defenses when he doesn't have to worry about the whole team. Also knows the division.
Would be a good hire as the DC.

He may not longer be a good HC but gotta believe he can still coach defense.

Looks like we know who the Eagles interim head coach will be at some point next season.

Ron's teams usually have a good defense so I think signing him would be solid not to mention his experience allows him to act as the head coach of the defense.
