I think Rodgers could play very well for one season, too. But this is a guy who said he was '90% retired' with his last darkness retreat. Thats not a statement from a QB I'd trade a 1st round pick for.

packers are not in a corner.... they have low expectations for 2023... they just want to get rid of rodgers... them holding out like this does nothing... it may make the owners look bad... but they are in total rebuild mode... when and how they get rid of Rodgers wont change that... especially if getting rid of him is not getting you the trade capital you are hoping for...

Jets put themselves in the corner because they think they can compete...

This argument is completely Packers-sided. If the Jets trade 1 or 2 first round picks for Aaron Rodgers...They are going to LOSE and piss the future away at the same time. They ain't winning sh*t with Rodgers. If they pay that, they're completely f*cking oblivious to the competition around them in the AFC and management/coaching won't make 2024.

If the Jets trade a first round pick for Rodgers, they are dumb as sh*t. If they trade multiple, the levels of their stupidity can't be quantified.
Unless is a conditional first rounder for 2024 if they make the super bowl. In that case their pick will be 21 or 32 anyway.

you have to get this correct... what we believe and what the team believes is different... and only one is important... they believe that with Rodgers they can compete... just because you and probably most of us disagree with them, doenst mean they are wrong, and certainly doesnt mean they should not do anything they think they need to do to compete when they think they are so close...

As a jet fan, i have said to many that i did not want rodgers... i certainly dont want to give up a first rounder... But i also dont think they are competitive right now...

But it makes all the sense in the world for them to overpay for Rodgers.... It makes more sense for Saleh to demand it from Johnson behind the scenes.... Point is, the jets need rodgers more than the packers do... the packers know this and they are holding him ransom!!!

agreed, a conditional would be preferable... But i doubt that packers will be that kind....

Lol that's shortsighted. He lost the best WR in the league and they didn't replace him after allowing the offense to become Davante dependent.
I'm sure not implying that Rodgers can't still bring it. Not even arguing that he will improve the Jets chances of getting into the playoffs. The two key issues are:

*Is he past his prime.....yes
*Will he still be owed $60mil by team he no longer wants to play for.....yes

Add those two up and again, what team would be dumb enough to surrender a 1st round pick?

The dude had a darkness retreat to determine if he wanted to play football...and came out of it saying "Yeah...The Jets baby."

Y'all is f*cked. You know this. I don't care how much you tapdance. We on the outside looking in know how this train is coming to a stop.

im not tapdancing.... I have made it clear i dont want to give up any first rounders... But i am a pessimistic jets fan... just like most of us... but if you are going to believe that they have any chance to make it to the playoffs... then we NEED rodgers.... its a NEED now... because they sat on this and let all the other veterans go someplace else...

The jets have shown their cards... by bending over backwards to get Rodgers to even want to come here(not even convinced he wants to).... the packers holding it up makes sense.... because they know the jets want it so badly...

If y'all are going to trade away first rounder(s), Lamar Jackson is a better option. Packers have no clothes. 2nd rounder...Maybe a later round pick as well...Tops.

Then you lose anyway.

The way i see it, the Jets are bent over. Packers have 2 QB's and can let Erin sit on his ass and watch Love play. Or they get their asking price. Jets have............wait for it......Zach WIlson.
Not really IMO you wait and make GB come to you. If not then you move along and if you suck in 2023 then you draft a QB in 24 and go from that point. I would not trade for that Drama Queen in the first place.

The Jets would have to restructure their whole scheme if Lamar Jackson is a option and it'll be years before they're a contender. They simply don't have the time. Plus he's been trending downhill each season.

Packers pay Rodgers $60M this year to sit on the bench? That's the fall back position?

I dunno man... the Jets have stockpiled 1st rounders for a decade and they're finally on the brink. While Rodgers has baggage for sure, the FO and coaches are playing for their livelihoods beyond 2023. If Rodgers even gets them to the playoffs, you take that chance - even if it costs you a couple of 1st rounders. There are a handful of top passers in this league and Rodgers is still one of those guys. GB will play hardball here because they are good negotiators. Just getting to the playoffs is a win for the Jets, even if they sacrifice a bit of draft capital to get there. I'm pretty sure the FO is more than willing to give a 1st to get him. Not so sure about two 1st... but they'd probably do it with their backs against the wall. Nothing is perfect in the NFL. A playoff appearance keeps them relevant and the franchise in tact... you can talk about the "future" next off season.

I'd argue if the offense fell apart because one guy left they gave the MVP to the wrong guy

no team in their right mind would trade a 1st rd pick to rent a player.
