There won't be a straight answer. "The timing was bad" was best you'll get.

Which really makes it seem like this should have happened before if it's just a timing thing.
already reading rants about the covid vaccine being the underlying cause.

I hope for a straight answer and put this shit to bed.

If they are considering canceling the pro bowl and pushing things back, here's what they should do:

Play only the nfc week 18 games + buffy v. cincy this sunday.

Play the afc week 18 games next sunday.

That makes no sense because there are seeding implications for who wins/loses.

Either it is played this week (and it's not) or it should go down as a no-contest and everyone accepts this outcome and moves on. I don't see them making this game up AFTER week 17, and it would end up requiring both the Bills and the Bengals to end up playing 3 games in roughly 10 days....no way the NFLPA or the players are going to agree to that. Especially with the last game, potentially on fumes, being a playoff game.

Play this week as normal, next week Bills/Bengals push playoffs a week, following week playoffs, cancel ProBowl or even just do it it Friday or Saturday before SB or the following week. No one will watch it in any case.

The Bengals get screwed.
The Bills get screwed.
The Ravens get screwed.
The Chiefs are handed a gift and will be the only team to benefit from this ruling.
Looks like the Chiefs are about to be the most hated team in the league, if they weren't already at this point. Can't really blame them if they benefit from this in the most cringe way possible.

NFL reallllly fucking this up

You could do that and still keep the SB on schedule since there is a 2 week window in between the CSHIPS and the SB...

Those people don’t need evidence to make those claims. So any evidence that disproves that will be ignored anyway.

Can’t they postpone seeding for this unexpected occasion? Honest question … have no idea.
Not sure how that happens when the pro-bowl is the week before the SB, and the playoffs have already started.........

Could they just push back the entire playoffs? I don't see it. Not for 1 game. If there were an issue where half the league didn't play, then I could see something like this - but they aren't likely to deal with the logistics of moving everything back a week for just 1 game.

I don't see them moving 16 games back a week because of 1 game. The logistics would be a nightmare - tickets, employees, schedules, venues....I don't see this as a viable option for a multitude of reasons.

It will have many logistical complications, but then any decision will not be easy. They need to make decision soon. No need to drag this out, it affects the league as a whole.

Can't see how on earth anyone could hold something like this against the Chiefs. Hey, if you want to hate on them simply because who they are, that's one of those whatever floats your boat situations. But if they end up somehow benefitting from all this, that's sheer coincidence and not a speck more.

The league already favors Mahomes, it’s not like people need another reason to hate on them.

True, hadn’t fully thought it out. But, therein lies some kind of solution. Would need a lot of coordination between teams, ticket holders, TV stuff, etc…

No this week would be the same calling this weekend this week.

Idk man, that's just catnip for the people who think the refs/NFL favor Mahomes and the Chiefs now. It would be a bad look for the NFL, even if you're correct.

All they'd be doing in what I said is pushing the playoffs back a week. Don't think tickets have been sold for playoff games yet with seeding not set. I dunno...

They wouldnt be moving any regular season games. They would be moving playoff games. Which of course is not changing any logistical plans for NFL teams because no one knows where or when they are playing quite yet.

The only logistical nightmare in this scenario is for the TV people to move around their schedules. And that is actually a pretty big deal I bet because I would guess it comes at a HEFTY price to the NFL.

Ultimately they still get all their games though but it does change one week of programming

Unfortunately the only real option is to just drop the game. Having the Bengals and Bills play a single week 19 game while all other playoff teams rest and recover doesn't really do them any favors. It also condenses the super bowl weeks into 1 which is a big deal for the league. It sucks, but calling it a no-contest now lets everyone move on. The Chiefs will be a 1 seed - And it should be noted that the Bengals won their last year and the Bills did this year, so it's not a sure-thing for them to march to the SB. The Bengals will get somewhat screwed as the 3 seed, but really have a lot of it to blame on themselves for the unimpressive start. The Ravens get screwed out of competing for the AFC-N crown, but I think they have bigger issues right now than worrying about home or away games and division titles.
