Yes. Call it a tie and move on
I mentioned this a few pages back. I brought it up because even tho there are scenarios out there which could result in the game picking up where it left off, the logistics involved and maybe even the thought of the public not being receptive to this made me wonder if they'll simply consider thes game a draw. This is by no means an ideal situation, but it may turn out to be the only realistic one.

Here's how I think it should work:

Buffalo-Patriots and Bengals-Ravens play on Sunday.

On Thursday night, Buffalo-Bengals, score is 7-3, ball at the same yardline at 6:12, 1st and 10 Cincy. Just like as if it were a rain delay.

I deleted my rant about the stupid participation trophies they're giving to bad teams to be in the playoffs and just say the Bills and Bengals get a bye from the garbage teams playing each other in the wild card round of the playoffs.

There is no way a 11-4 and 12-3 team(s) should have to play some shitty team with a losing record in the playoffs anyway.
I don't fully agree, but I like the cut of your jib.

Undoing the results that were already done is out of the question.

This makes sense. Kick it down the road until after the week 18 games and then re-evaluate.
The game has much more meaning for the Bengals if the Chiefs lose to the Raiders. If we're looking at this strictly from a game standpoint, if the Raiders beat KC then maybe think about rescheduling the game. The game matters a lot more to the Chiefs than anyone if they beat the Raiders so rescheduling the game for KC might not make sense.

That said....it is just a game. At the end of the day if a team gets stuck playing instead of getting a bye then go out and play the unfair way.

I am against upending every other game for this

100% agree.

I mean - as a Bengals fan - of COURSE I'd prefer them just award them the win. They were leading at the time it was called...yeah - I don't care only 10 minutes were played - NFL doesn't have a rule about what consitutes a full game anyway...LOL

That all being said - the right call is "no contest" and we all understand it's not fair, but life isn't fair. It's not fair that Hamlin got hit in such a manner that his heart stopped beating and nearly died on the field. Life isn't fair and doesn't owe anyone anything.

I'd be fine with it being a ruled as a draw, but it really should be a no contest. And the NFL should declare it a no contest ASAP, so that the debate over the playoff seeding issue can be put to rest. That would be the correct decision and the human thing to do.

This half-way shit from the NFL makes no sense whatsoever. When preparing for the games this weekend, the Bengals need to know what is on the line. Have they already won the division? If the NFL calls the Bengals/Bills a no-contest result that will not be made up, neither the Bengals or Ravens will play their starters. The probability is too great that they would have to turn around and play a 3 vs. 6 matchup in the playoffs the next week no matter the outcome of their week 18 game. Having them prepare without this knowledge is ridiculous.

The “solution” proposed by @TheRangerDude seems the most plausible. Cancel the Pro Bowl game, which is crap anyway, and have them play again 1 week before the SB. The teams in position would still get a bye and maintain seeding, etc?

That could/should be the next step, now that they've confirmed that the game will not resume this week.

Goodell proving once again that he is an awful commissioner. Any good commissioner would've called off the game and declared it a no contest last night.

They don't even need to cancel the Pro Bowl, just hold it at 1pm or on Saturday. Super Bowl players don't participate anyway.

It will be interesting to hear what the cause of the heart attack was.

That makes no sense because there are seeding implications for who wins/loses.

Either it is played this week (and it's not) or it should go down as a no-contest and everyone accepts this outcome and moves on. I don't see them making this game up AFTER week 17, and it would end up requiring both the Bills and the Bengals to end up playing 3 games in roughly 10 days....no way the NFLPA or the players are going to agree to that. Especially with the last game, potentially on fumes, being a playoff game.

Also, it would give the teams and players more time to overcome this sad state of affairs. Don’t know the details and if this solution would work …

Can’t they postpone seeding for this unexpected occasion? Honest question … have no idea.

For sure the contact was a cause. After further testing they may discover a previously undiagnosed heart condition that may have made him more susceptible to an event like this.

The Bengals get screwed.
The Bills get screwed.
The Ravens get screwed.
The Chiefs are handed a gift and will be the only team to benefit from this ruling.

There won't be a straight answer. "The timing was bad" was best you'll get.

Which really makes it seem like this should have happened before if it's just a timing thing.
