Friedman apparently said he hasn't heard anything even remotely like what Weeke's reporting the Calgary trade offer is.

Tkachuk, Zary and another first is too much, especially for a team rolling right now. Adding more than that for a guy who will not play until next year is insane.

I see a lot of denials of THAT package but I’m not sure why the Flames wouldn’t move Tkachuk right now - do they 1) see themselves extending him relatively easily? And if not, 2) do they really want to pay him $9 mil next year and then lose him for nothing?

I am assuming the Knights can put Eichel on LTIR right away? The Sabres don't have him on LTIR and wasn't sure the rules, otherwise there is no way this would work under the cap.

From what I read, they have to put him to the "active" roster until he fails his physical. So they'd have to be compliant for a day or two. Probably gonna use some shenanigans to move a few guys to the A or maybe they can LTIR someone else since Tuch is leaving?

Pacioretty is already on LTIR but Karlsson and Stone aren’t. So we can guarantee Stone most likely will be moved to LTIR.

I think the 1st round pick ask was easy to put aside with a prospect like Krebs and Tuch coming with term at a pretty reasonable price.

Also gives them 3* 1st round picks in 2022.

*- the pick from Florida is top 10 protected. Converts to 2023 if so.

Well, it seems apparent now that the Sabres were using the Flames to drive up the price for Eichel. The only bad thing about this deal is if Eichel returns to form, that's McDavid and Eichel in the same division as Calgary.
