So @Xeliou66 is wondering where I'm at. Well much like him, I was watching the CBB action this week. And now it's time for me to give you guys a helping hand through all of the fighting. Yep, Part 2 of the season is underway, and it'll all be just one big fight where only a few elite teams will survive.

And if you're wondering why I took so long, ask teams like Arizona and Miami and Providence... who had already sustained a bad loss.

1/6 recap

If you want an extensive recap about yesterday's action, then too bad. You just need to know the following:

  • #7 Marquette lost at Seton Hall
  • #25 Ole Miss suffered their first loss of the year, thanks to Tennessee. Ditto for #13 Colorado State against Utah State.
  • #12 BYU melted down in the 2nd half of their game against Cincinnati... AT HOME.
  • Florida Atlantic lost again, proving that they can't handle being the hunted. Thank you, Charlotte.
  • And finally, James Madison's proud run ended at Southern Miss 81-71.
So now we have no more unbeaten teams left in Division I. I TOLD you guys that "Part 2" of the season would be nuts!

News from January 9th
So it turns out I made a mistake in the last post. Turns out there WAS one unbeaten team left in Division I, and that was Houston. I said WAS, because Iowa State just spoiled the party for them. So #2 just got rocked.

Oh! And THIS just happened to the #1 team in the nation! So now we have the top 2 teams losing on the same day... both to unranked teams. THIS is why I take a backseat during this part of the season.

I watched North Carolina beat Wake and Kansas beat Cincy last night. Both winners are impressive teams. I believe the Tar Heels may be the best team in CBB, along with UConn.

All things considered, it has been a pretty quiet week so far. Yeah, Kentucky lost to South Carolina, but the Gamecocks have a pretty good squad as well. So while you guys look at the Top 25 today, here are the outside games to pay attention to:

Pittsburgh @ Miami (2:15)
Western Illinois @ Morehead State (3:30)
High Point @ Winthrop (4:00)
Vermont @ Bryant (4:00)
North Florida @ Eastern Kentucky (4:00)

UC-San Diego @ UC-Davis (5:00)
Bradley @ Indiana State (6:00)
James Madison @ Appalachian State (6:00)

So two more Top 5 teams went down yesterday. In the case of South Carolina beating Tennessee, I think it was just a great job by the Gamecocks. They were sick and tired of being underestimated despite being 17-3, and their defense was excellent in shutting down the Vols.

This one, though, I have no answer for. Was the upcoming Duke game REALLY that big of a distraction for the Tar Heels?

Yes, I know that there are THREE battles between Top 10 teams today [including Duke/UNC]. But as hard as it's gonna be, you should AT LEAST pay attention to these games that are outside the rankings:

Virginia Tech @ Miami (12:00)
South Carolina @ Georgia (1:00)
Virginia @ Clemson (2:00)
Northwestern @ Minnesota (2:00)
Central Connecticut @ Merrimack (3:00)
Florida @ Texas A&M (4:00)
Richmond @ VCU (4:00)
Samford @ Chattanooga (4:30)
Lamar @ Texas A&M-CC (4:30)
Maryland @ Michigan State (5:30)
Drake @ Indiana State (6:00)
Washington State @ Washington (9:00)
Saint Mary's @ Gonzaga (10:30)

And... oh yeah! There's something called the "Legacy Classic" on TNT today... or something like that.

Kansas beats Houston by 13. Houston is somewhat overrated IMO, they aren’t a great scoring team. Big 12 is loaded but I think the Jayhawks are once again probably the best team in it.

Duke/North Carolina about to start - let’s go Tar Heels. I fucking hate Duke basketball with a passion.
