Many of us in Boise have known Chris Petersen for years, while a lot of the posters here can't even spell his name correctly. While the news came unexpectedly, none of us are really surprised. Here is why.
Coach Pete was a great Xs and Os guy. He truly enjoyed working with the athletes, and loved being part of a community. But he was never comfortable in the unending glare of the coaching spotlight. In Boise, his wife could go to the supermarket and they could enjoy an evening out without being swarmed by autograph seekers or being forced to answer questions.
Folks forget that not all coaches are media whores nor do they suffer internet fools easily.
Coach Pete is a good guy, and he's made millions playing a game. Something tells me that he wants to simply spend time enjoying life.
In Boise, we wish him well. No one here is trying to second guess his motives.

This years Washington team was the least Petersen looking team I've ever seen. When a coach gets burned out the regression is pretty obvious.
