Actually the Chiefs had the ball 10 times in that game. KC also started out with a FG and 2 TD's. Had that happened with the Colts, they would have had to open it up more. That time of game plan is based off of going with it until you can't. The Colts kept this game close and just ran with the plan the entire game.
Kneeldown drive is a real stretch to count. It's a dead drive, it's really the only tangible result of ball-control I can think of. It's not all that easy to do either. Even then, variance kind of puts a damper onto it; still 9 possessions (not counting a dead on sight 10 second kneeldown) at the end of the day.

*Checks notes*

Pringle got over 100 yard?

Not bad for WR5 I guess.

Football is about matchups. The chiefs offense has loads of weapons and create matchup nightmares all over the field for defenses. With that many weapons (even when some are hurt) guys like Pringle can shine. Still a great game for him.

Ehhhh, With Watkins and Hill out the only dude that's a serious matchup problem (besides Mahomes himself) is Kelce. Hardman's routerunning is not good and has been exposed repeatedly the past 3 weeks; but yeah he runs a nice vert. Robinson is a Mahomes merchant much like some of the older Manning/Brady receivers from the 2000's, imo. Pringle I actually like more than those two down to down, though Hardman's potential is considerably higher, it is not the present. With that being said, there's really little excuse for not being able to score on that particular Colts secondary. This was not the Bears, Bills, or Patriots out there. Maybe it's just knowing Pringle from KSU, but I just don't see him being some diamond in the rough. Feels more like a ham and egger getting carried by his QB to nice numbers due to circumstance to me.

Mahomes was limited. That had a huge effect on things last night. If he doesn’t get stepped on by his own player we are probably having a different conversation about this game this morning. I take nothing away from the colts but all the WRs you mentioned being hurt AND Mahomes hobbling around on one leg... and they still had a shot at the end to win it

KC also won the TOP in that game. By about 3 minutes. Had that happened in last nights game, there is no way the Colts would have won.

Don't think I can agree. Colts D had mobbed the Chiefs OL and skill positions all night. Maybe Mahomes farts out a random TD or two with his weirdness, but I kinda doubt it.

Yep. The Colts missing their 2 best defenders didn't hurt them much.
That's the first time Houston played well all season.

But if the Colts couldn't move the ball like they did and kept control of the TOP, the Chiefs would have had better field possession too. I think, for a team with a limited passing offense, controlling the ball is the only way to beat the Chiefs.

Certainly- that was as poorly coached a game from Andy going back probably at least 3-4 years, imo. Probably would need to go back to the 1-5 start in 2015 to find one as lame as this one. This is really a bad loss to take in lights of any HFA race, and trying to get a bye in general. Injuries suck, but this was a weak effort from jumpstreet, imo.

I think it's easier to just score and worry about the rest later. Be tactical if you can with a 4 minute drill, 2 minute drill, etc. I would much prefer to just do what the Lions did and just go for the jugular, and play ultra deep safeties and force the Chiefs to play short-intermediate, especially without Watkins and Hill that is a pretty doable strategy.

I agree. They needed to find a way to win that game at home against a depleted secondary.

The Colts came out with a 13-10 lead in the 3rd quarter.
First drive - 4 minutes - punt
Second drive - 6 minutes - punt
Third drive - 8 1/2 minutes - FG
That was 18.5 minutes taken up with 3 drives. Exactly what they needed to do.

The Lions lost and the Colts won. I'll go with the Colts strategy.

they had different strategies. IMO.

Chiefs are the most dangerous & explosive Offense in the league also IMO.

The Chiefs defense is often found lacking.
So the Lions tried to keep up with Chiefs.

The Colts tried to slow the Chiefs down.

One went toe to toe with the chiefs strengths, attacking the Chiefs weakness (defense)
One tried to stop the Chiefs strength.

Prime example? They had over 200 yds rushing and 4 rushing TDs.

stop trolling
Don't be a fool. The reason The Ravens keep losing is that they thought somehow that Jackson was a passer. He consistently threw ridiculously off target passes down the field and they got whipped because of it by the Chiefs.

Meaningless 5 yard runs on 2nd and 10 or 1st down runs after a penalty tend to pile up against an offense. It took two absolute prayers for the game to be close on the scoreboard.

Doesn't change the Ravens ran it a lot, via scramble or otherwise.

I am actually confused how anyone would/could think the Colts running it down the Chiefs throats last night didnt make a difference? I feel some trolling going on right now.

I think it was pretty close to the same strategy. Lions ran for about 190yds.

Chiefs luck was just a lot better in that game. Seriously. Luck. And not the Andrew kind.
