Fans should email him and threaten to boycott if that game isn't cancelled and replaced with a real opponent (i.e., a ranked FBS team).

This program has peaked unless the OOC scheduling gets better. OOC losses don't hurt at all in the conference standings except as the 2nd tiebreaker, so there is no real downside.

Worst case scenario, they lose before we all get too excited, and the loss makes for a more battle-tested Badgers team when the Big Ten schedule starts.

Best case scenario, they win and have some credibility with voters and computers so that an undefeated season guarantees a spot in the BCS game, or even a chance with one loss.

Well. I agree that the Badgers need to step it up. Mainly because I think Barry, and now Bielema, do kind of an awful job of preparing their teams for the road. I don't know what it is, but when they have big road games, a lot of the time you'll suddenly hear Bielema break from his 1-0 mentality and I personally feel like I could see it in the players. Walking out to the tunnel with their eyes down...deep in thought.... They shouldn't have ANYTHING going on in their heads outside of, "Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill. Kill."

Know what I mean? And I think scheduling bigger opponents early in the season will wake them up a bit.

Call up the University of Oregon. We'd love to welcome Badgers to Autzen stadium. Home-Home series would be great.

I wouldn't mind it. Not really on the top of my list though.

I've always thought Tennessee would be a good little OOC rivalry for Wisconsin. They're a bit down right now, but I say why not establish something. It wouldn't be a terribly long trip for either school's fans.

I'd have no problem with our OOC if Oregon State was actually decent. You want to schedule one slightly above average major conference team, an above average mid-major, a below average mid-major, and an above average FCS team. I think Barry tried to do that, and his only major werror was expecting Oregon State to be good. Replace Oregon State with a team of the Washington-Texas Tech-North Carolina variety and I think it'd be pretty solid.

I don't know. It's kind of obvious what their mission is. Play teams that are vulnerable to the power run. Try to introduce the Badgers to different sorts of schemes. They've been trying to get bigger programs on the schedule. He's been after Notre Dame for a while. They worked out a deal with VT. The return trip to ASU is on the schedule. WSU and OrSU are on the schedule. There are a LOT of vacancies after next year that they can fill. So it will be interesting to see how they handle that.

People need to be honest about the Badgers, though. They're a pro-style development program with a lot of walkons and late bloomers. They have to hone in before they get into the dogfights that the B1G is supposed to present.

I think Boise and Wisconsin would be good for each other. It'd be a well covered game.

The thing that makes OOC scheduling so tough is that it is done so far in advance so unless you schedule a huge dog (even then it's not guaranteed) you have no real idea if the above average good team will actually be still above average or shitty in 10 years.

I would like to see conferences form like little alliances where say you have a game set up that the previous years #1 teams in each of the two conferences that have a OOC game. You can set it up every two years, wouldn't be as dynamic, but better than scheduling 10 years out like we do it now.

So say we had an OOC agreement with the SEC for two years......you do a home and home for the next two years based on the standings of the two conferences from this season.

#1 vs #1
#2 vs #2
#3 vs #3
etc, etc.....

Obviously there are some flaws because that assumes all conferences would have the same number of teams or maybe you just make a deal with the top 8 teams in the conferences to square off.

Set it up for like the last week before conference games set and allow the individual schools to still schedule the other OOC games like they do now.

You could set it up for the conferences to rotate through each other every so often, and you would always have some top OOC games.

Just throwing some thoughts out there.....

Oh, and so not to be called some Husker troll, the Badgers are the greatest college football team evar!!!!

Oregon State has never been good enough to be good enough.

If we played a tougher Oregon State team at home AND replaced the South Dakota game this year with a road game against a BCS conference opponent, then we would have had the right OOC schedule.

No more FCS opponents.

I disagree on that. Two years from now Boise vs. Wisconsin should still be an interesting enough matchup to get national coverage. I don't doubt at all that espn could get a 3rd party to host an early season game @ Qwest Field one year, Lambeau the next....or even Soldier.

Personally, I think that would be pretty smart for both. Wisconsin would help sell Qwest out, especially if we schedule that during a light travel season for the Badgers. Qwest is in a region that Boise could potentially find some new fans, and more Boise fans should be able to make that game than Atlanta.

For Wisconsin, I would actually rather see it at Lambeau, but playing it at Soldier could help Wisconsin dig further into the Northern Illinois region. It is already the destination of choice for a lot of players there. Why not take a shot at solidifying that idea. Could probably accomplish that at Lambeau, too, however. And I think a UW vs. Boise game at Lambeau may be more intriguing. Also Wisconsin fans would be more appreciative.
