As an example to my above question, I’m probably most left on labor issues.

I respect the right to collectively bargain, but people need to understand the trade offs. It’s not a magical cure-all, nor is it the drain on the economy some on the right seem to think.

I tend to be on the conservative side with fiscal policy and spending, but on the liberal side with social issues.

My point is, we don't live, weren't raised , under the same circumstances.

So, it really shouldn't be that big of a surprise that we see the world very differently.

Abortion is the ultimate black and white issue, no middle ground. This is true.

But there's many places you can fall on the immigration spectrum, from being against ANY immigrants at all to totally open borders. Almost no one sane supports either extreme. Within those poles you have everything from letting Dreamers stay (I honestly do not understand the idea of making them leave) to letting parents of kids born here stay to letting in lots of legal immigrants to giving illegals a path to citizenship to a points system for legal immigrants etc. There's a lot of room for compromise.
