I like getting GB Week 1 and I know I've said this already.

We have to go there anyway. So, might as well have it scheduled during the most unpredictable week in the NFL - week 1. Nobody will have any idea what the new offense is going to look like, how we will deploy our new weapons... The team should be super motivated for the first game under a new regime, primetime against the big rivals... etc...

Plus, you have Rodgers back in his first real game action since last year. When he played only one game following the collar bone injury and sat back down.

We have nothing to lose here. There's a lot going our way with the timing of this game. I think we play a real tough game and could very well pull it out.

Aaron Rodgers and that offense will probably put at least 21 points on the board. Will the offense be in sync enough to outscore Green Bay in Geeen Bay? I’m not as optimistic about that as most on here. It would be a sweet, though. That’s a big game to set the tone for the season.

Green Bay's 23rd ranked D allowed 24 points per game last year. That team hasn't been good outside of Rodgers for years. Would I bet on us winning? No. Do we have a chance? Hell yes. Is it to our benefit that we play them Week 1? Yeah.

I know I've only been on the board for a few months, but I have been saying for a number of years now that Green Bay has been the most overhyped team in the NFL. Like clockwork, every year without fail at least several writers, analysts, pundits, etc, predict that THIS is the year the Pack returns to the Super Bowl. And 2018 has been no different. In fairness, I kind of understand being that Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL, and when you have that, you always have a chance to make waves, so these "experts" hang their opinions on Rodgers alone. But as you pointed out, GB's D has been pretty crappy, and their offense hasn't exactly been super duper, and that's with the best QB in the league at the helm. The Pack will NOT make the Super Bowl. I'm not even sure they will make the playoffs.

That point is highly debatable. Yeah, they haven’t seen our offense in a game situation, but we also haven’t used it in a game situation. If it were a home game, it might support your premise more, but that stadium will be loud and communication is going to be difficult when our team is on the field.

Can you quickly look up the teams they faced in those 10 years? I’m too lazy, but I know playing the Seahawks after they won the super bowl is a real drag on those stats.

If Dom Capers was still the Packers defensive coordinator, I'd also assume the D is going to be a sieve again this year. However, new Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine seems to be making a significant impact on the entire team throughout the first couple practices. Assuming it's going to be the same ol' Packers defense is a bit foolish.

If there is any benefit to the Bears visiting Green Bay week 1 versus later in the season it will be that the Packers have new playbooks on both sides of the ball and it's certainly plausible that the whole team will be more prone to mistakes from mal-synchronization than it would otherwise be later in the season.

There is one benefit... Bears get the annual Lambeau Beatdown over with early in the season.

Of course no one should assume the Packers D is going to bite simply because it bit last year, especially not with the personnel turnover they've had. Their defense might very well be back on the upswing, but how soon before anyone sees tangible results is the bigger question. The Bears have in essence the same situation on O. Should be interesting to see how each side plays out and which one more quickly adapted.

Packers had two defensive players carted off the field today. Kentrell Brice and Jake Ryan.
Early diagnosis may be torn ACL.

I recall a certain Thanksgiving 3 years ago.
I think we take one from Green Bay this year. I’m just not sure if it will be the first week of the season. It sure would be nice though.

Trubs is going to have to show us something in order for the Bears to beat GB. Not ready to guarantee anything at this point.
