Stick with me here. Obama does not get a pass.

By the same token Trump doubling down and pimping a bad situation to try and force his agenda damn sure does not give him a pass.

People are outraged at the current president because he took what was a screwed up policy and said... hey lets make this the NORM and in fact expand on it.

Reality is, if Trump had not go into over drive with it, it likely never would have come to light in the manner it has. So no Obama doesnt get a pass, but its a piss poor shitty attempt to rationalize by saying well Obama did it to.

his policy ? how is it different then the list of people i mentioned above . last i checked Trump was a civilian when that went on

His policy was different. It was zero tolerance. He didn’t discriminate. He is the only POTUS that was actually doing the job.

stick with me here , it isnt a policy , it is the LAW, a law that Obama also did some enforcement and the family separations were kept quiet

Come on man, there is a difference between.. it happened because of the way the system is setup and

Hey I want you to detain and prosecute every person that crosses the border illegally, be it an asylum seeker or some one just trying to sneak in, and I want you to separate their kids. .cause catch and release.

You do realize the LAW is written that an asylum seeker is still legal if they PRESENT to a US official and request asylum. As in, yes I am requesting asylum Mr Border Patrol officer.

Can You Request Asylum At U.S. Border or Entry Point? - AllLaw.com

If you can get a visa to come to the United States, such as a tourist visa, or if you can make your way to a U.S. border post, you can theoretically apply for asylum immediately upon your arrival at the airport, seaport, or border station. (It’s impossible to apply from asylum from a country outside the United States.)

In terms of procedure, you would first tell the inspections officer that you fear returning to your country and that you wish to apply for asylum. If you convince the officer of your fear, you should be given what’s called a “credible fear interview” with a trained asylum officer. If that goes well, you’ll be allowed to apply for asylum, either while in detention or after release on bond.

So in english, you must be IN the US in order to request asylum in the US.

Please see post 4264

The fact is, the system is designed to make sure as few people as possible request asylum or entry.. unless they are from Norway apparently.

Question
I am considering fleeing my home country, because I’m part of a persecuted group here, and I want to apply for refugee status to come to the United States. A friend told me, however, that the refugee application process is lengthy and difficult. He suggested I instead book a flight with a layover in the U.S. and then request asylum at the airport. Would this route be easier

Answer
Neither route is easy. Refugee classification is a long process, but you will have access to plenty of support if you are eventually successful. Applying for asylum after you have arrived in the U.S. is somewhat easier, but you must have the financial means to come to the United States and you risk being sent back to your home country if you are denied.

To become an asylee or refugee, you must refuse to return to your country of origin due to a well-founded fear that you will be persecuted based on your race, religion, nationality, social group, or political opinion. In order to request refugee status, you must have left your home country (except in special circumstances such as a disaster or war); while to apply for asylum, you must be at the U.S. border or already present in the United States.

You cannot simply “apply” to become a refugee – you must first get a referral. A referral from the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNCHR) is your best bet for getting into the U.S. Resettlement Program (USRAP), but even then only 1% of cases are referred for resettlement in a third country such as the United States. If you are referred to USRAP, it is still not guaranteed that you will be given refugee status.

like i said most people are gaming the system backed up by immigration stats . . most are denied because the so called danger doesnt rise to the level of persecution

when did i state that 90% are here to sell drugs or kill americans ? i said 80% dont show up to court which in essence is an open border policy . that policy is not one that has been passed into law by our representatives and signed by any president

Forgive me, I was just paraphrasing the line that fearless leader has been pimping the last two years. And did it ever occur to you that the reason some one wouldnt show up is because of an already predetermined edict to deport them in most cases??

The Law in and of itself is set up to be discriminatory. This is just the latest incarnation of the Johnson Reed act. Its a portion of America fearing immigrants will change what it is to be American. Sorry guys, that genie is already out the bottle. And short of a massive cleansing, its already happening. :suds:

Show me the discriminatory words in the law.

I can show you where zero-tolerance is not discriminatory. The only other way not to discriminate is to not enforce the law at all, against anybody.

OK so let me rephrase that. The way the law is being applied is intentionally discriminatory. Like I said. look up the Johnson/Reed Act. The only difference is, we are targeting South/Central Americans and Africans/Hatians for exclusion this time.
